This game is great. I can't recommend this or the original enough to people. I was suprissed at what a departure this game was, but pleasantly surprised. Players will find themselves stuck to their seats with excitement and keep coming back for more and more. The humor is nice and clean and oddly enough actually funny at times. Not something I expect from most games these days. The enemies are often fresh and interesting and the storyline, while derivative in portions, still manages to feel fresh. A bang up job.
Whatever is its that you look for in a game, you're bound to find it in Alundra 2. This action/RPG has got it all. From intense fighting, to hours of exploration, not to mention seriously complex puzzles. Players looking for a little of everything will not be disappointed.
If you have played the original Alundra game, then you must pick up Alundra 2 as soon as its available. Since I have so many games lying around everywhere, I usually don't have the chance to play them all through, but Alundra 2 is one of those games that captivated me. Action, Adventure, RPG, if you are a fan of any of that then you have to pick up Alundra 2, this is definitely the game that defeats Zelda 64 in almost every way. Damn, will Activision's streak of success ever end?
Alundra 2 uses many different methods to entertain and challenge you. There is a mildly entertaining story that is intertwined and thought provoking and that makes this a pretty enjoyable game.
If you are into the Action/RPG genre, this game is a must have. I was really impressed with the overall quality of the game as well as the translation job that Activision did with the script -- the dialogue was actually funny and always made sense, a serious problem with many translations of games that were originally done in Japanese. Alundra 2 is a solid game, a lot of fun, and is well worth purchasing.
Finally, in the end, Alundra 2 is a great action rpg. When someone ask you what good action rpg are out there, you'll probably say Alundra 1 and 2. Is it better than the first one? You have to find out for yourself.
In the barren action-RPG genre, Alundra 2 adds its own unique, bizarre flavor in a laughable way not seen in many games. It may not be the best of its [few] kind, but nevertheless is a good adventure for action-RPG fans to discover. The genre is growing fast and with upcoming games such as Legend of Mana and Threads of Fate, Alundra 2 is just the game to get your feet wet. Or you can bust out your old copy of Brave Fencer if it's still lying around somewhere. Either way, you get the same gut-wrenchingly cute voices!
Overall, as a stand-alone game, Alundra 2 isn't all that bad. In fact, it's a worthy purchase for any fan of the action/RPG genre. However, if you're a fan of the first game or are looking to experience Zelda on your PlayStation, you'll probably be disappointed. Just pretend that this has nothing to do with the original Alundra or Zelda, and you'll probably enjoy this game just fine. It's definitely one of the top five action/RPG's on the PlayStation (if you can name five action/RPG's on the system, please send an email to [email protected]
But even plagued with the occasional camera faux pas, Alundra 2 does manage to survive intact. With its high quality, addicting puzzles formula and quirky characters, there more than enough to warrant a purchase by fans of the genre.
All Game Guide
So, if you're feeling a little dashing, a little daring, and possibly courageous and caring, look to Alundra 2 for some stories to share with your faithful and friendly. But if you're a devout fan of Alundra however, you may want to tread lightly as Alundra 2 shares little in common.
Alundra 2 has a few strong points, but overall, it's an overwhelmingly subpar action RPG. Because it has nearly nothing in common with the first Alundra, from storyline to presentation, I can't recommend it even to fans of the first.
Game Informer Magazine
Alundra 2 looks different and plays different, but once you get into it, the addiction is the same, and the adventure is another epic that will leave you craving a third chapter.
Fans of the original game would be best to simply forget this is a sequel, they'll probably enjoy it a lot more without the memory of the first game clouding their judgement.
I wanted to see so much more come out of the game, but I came away disappointed. The annoying timing issues in battle and the lack of driving characters and plot takes away from the experience. However, the younger crowd will appreciate the simple story. The puzzles are good, though not enough to cover up the tweaks the game needs. Despite trying things different, Alundra 2 is a step back in terms of fun from the original.
Few games reek of the grasping, guileless profiteering that goes on in the game industry as much as Alundra 2 does - it's a sad, uninspired attempt to turn a mildly popular game into a mildly popular franchise. Lifeless exercises like this game are cooked up when companies are concerned merely with name recognition and branding, and quality comes in a distant second to marketing. While it's definitely playable, it's mediocre in almost every way and begs the question - why would you even consider it, with the plethora of titles on the platform?
