Overall, Arc The Lad III turns out to be the weakest Arc The Lad game yet. Combined with the lack of an outstanding plot, its relatively slow-paced gameplay discourages a recommendation to anyone other than diehard fans of the series, especially in light of the fact that there are many better strategy RPGs out there.
Did I enjoy playing Arc the Lad 3? Yes. But is Arc the Lad 3 any special than any of the other rpg games out there? No. It's an rpg game where if you have it then play it as you will enjoy it no doubt. But if you don't have it then don't worry too much about not having it. I hear that Arc the Lad 4 is currently being made for the Playstation 2 as I type this. And Arc the Lad 4 is expected to take place 3 years after Arc the Lad 3. Hopefully by then there will be some innovative stuff in Arc 4 that Arc 3 didn't have. And maybe you just might see the return of Alec and his gang in Arc 4....
Despite only being $6 there are many other PS Classics that are available for the same price and come much more highly recommended. To really complete this game you will have to spend roughly 50 hours on it, and with how dull the story and gameplay become this is really quite hard to do. Arc the Lad III isn’t a bad game, but when you take into account how impressive Arc I and Arc II were you can’t help but feel snubbed by it. If you want a great PS1 RPG just snag one listed in the opening paragraph and take a pass on Arc the Lad III.
