Meristation (May 12, 2001)
PSX Nation (May 14, 2001)
In the twilight of the PlayStation's active life, and with "Spiderman" already proving that videogames can do justice to the comic book universe of popular characters, "Batman Gotham City Racer" is yet another nail in the coffin of a super hero that's still waiting for its universe to be done interactive justice. Not even worth renting.
The Video Game Critic (Feb 02, 2006)
The animated cut scenes are entertaining enough, and fans of the series will enjoy watching Batman battle foes like Two-Face, Firefly, and Clay-Face. This footage appears to be taken directly from the show, although the visual quality is somewhat degraded. Gotham City Racer is definitely mediocre, and only die-hard Batman fans will find any redeeming qualities in this.
NowGamer (May 01, 2001)
The list never ends. Empty streets littered with roadblocks, unimpressive weaponry, mentally neutralising missions…to let this one off on the pretence of it being a kiddie game is patronising. This is a character with a huge scope for the videogame arena, so if he must be shoehorned into a racing game why not just do The World’s Scariest Police Chases with a Batmobile? Oh right – development costs!
