Destrega

To sum up, Destrega's sheer ambition pulls it above its weaknesses to make it one of the most unique, exciting, and challenging PlayStation fighters on the market--the story mode alone makes the game a must-play. Next time you check out a big-name fighting sequel, think back to Destrega's features and imagine what the developers could have done.

All of this originality is presented with above average graphics and control. While the two player game was fantastic, I found the single player mode to be very limited in it's long term appeal.

It's an ambitious project by a talented team, for sure, but there's not enough meat on the bones, so to speak. The biggest problems are its level of challenge and puny replay incentive. On an almost Bomberman-esque level, Destrega delights as a two-player game. However, as a single-player experience, Destrega leaves much to be desired.

Au début marrant et speed, Destrega devient vite une répétition des mêmes combats, peu importe le personnage ou les décors. La réalisation manque de souffle avec ses graphismes surranés, les voix en français minables ou bien les petits problèmes de caméra. Ca aurait pu être un bon jeu car il était vraiment innovant.

I've played a lot of fighting games in my life, and I really was hopeful that Destrega could break the mold in just the right ways. It broke the mold, but the way it re-arranged the pieces simply doesn't fit. Overall, it's a game thats good and bad qualities run neck-and-neck, and that's why I've had to give it a purely middle-of-the-road rating.
