Description

Amami City is a huge Japanese metropolis of the near future. Each house has a computer, and all computers are linked to one big network. The flow of information is being controlled by the government, and software companies create huge virtual locations-networks. You are an eighteen year old member of the hacker group called "Spookies". One day, you accidentally gain access to one of those network - a virtual city called "Paradigm-X", created by Algon Soft. Soon you find out there is some sort of an evil scheme behind this network and decide to investigate the matter.

"Soul Hackers" contains all the popular features of Shin Megami Tensei series such as demon summoning, the ability to talk to the monsters you encounter in dungeons, first-person perspective exploration and battle, heavy weapon and equipment management, etc. It also utilizes the loyalty system that was first implemented in the first "Devil Summoner". The demons you summon to fight with you will obey or disobey you depending on their loyalty level.

Trivia

The Playstation version of "Soul Hackers" was one of the few Megaten games that were almost released in USA... unfortunately, the release was cancelled by Sony at the last moment, after Atlus had already promised the fans to carry the game across the Pacific and translated the script!
