Even though it is worthy of playing, this is by no means a game I can justify as a must-have. Nonetheless, if you find yourself in-between games or have a few days of free time on your hands, this game is a great filler. Dinosaurs who wine and dine on classic games may want to take a look. It has that old game smell to it.

The more I progressed, the more I got into it. Its gameplay reminds me of an old Super Nintendo game I used to like, King of Dragons, a linear, arcade-style, side-scrolling action title, only with several noticeable variations. Namco's gameplay formula follows a 2D style, despite being portrayed in limited 3D levels. It's a fun game, though a tad short, but it's got the right stuff where it counts. Just don't expect too much.

GameSpot
Although Dragon Valor stands on its own as a fairly solid game, and there's nothing necessarily bad about it, the game just isn't particularly noteworthy. The average graphics, sound, and play mechanics contribute to the feeling that all this has been done before, and the uninspired storyline and lack of real plot twists really doesn't give you much motivation to keep playing. The branching family tree adds a measure of replay value, but the game is average enough that few will want to play it through more than once.

Dragon Valor is one of the most average games I've ever played. It has some mindlessly fun arcade moments balanced by a a mediocre plot and boring graphics. It's probably a good rental if you like big swords and beating up helpless minions, but I can think of quite a few things I'd rather spend 40 bucks on - starting with a better game.

This game is so stupendously bad that I would rather they reintroduce the poll tax than play this game again. The only one redeeming feature is that the FMV is of a decent level. You would expect that from Namco. Where on earth the main development team was plucked from is anyone's guess, though. All hail the 10-day return policy me thinks. Time to get my conker back.
