This plotline unfolds in the background, determining what you're trying to achieve, but usually it's a mad dash down a curvy country road to get from here to there in time, without being caught by the local police authorities who have decided you're the sole reason anything goes wrong in Hazzard County. Now, it might just be me, by I forgot if I was describing the plot of the game or the television series...

So, all in all Dukes of Hazard: The Race for Home is an exceptional title with a few minor mistakes here and there. But in overall the game shines with great gameplay, smooth graphics and excellent voice acting that almost makes you feel like the cats of the show reunited and have made an extra episode just for you.

I like this game. If you liked the tv show, you'll like this game. It's nostalgic. It's not the best racing game ever, but it is less sterile than some of the other F1 type racing games. Some of the terrain repeats from mission to mission to incorporate the storyline of Hazzard county into it. You almost start to learn the layout of the county. The missions for the most part are quick and could be used as a quick break from the real world. Everyone needs a quick break from the real world. That is why you are here.

All Game Guide
In my collection of PlayStation discs, I have most of the Arcade classics collections that are being put out by the likes of Williams, Atari and other companies that were big in the early 1980s. Playing Ms. Pac-Man, Centipede and other games from my impressionable youth is a blast. I got a similar retro thrill evading cop cars and bad guys while jumping ramps, smashing cars and driving down dirt roads in this game. Whenever I executed a good move or used a power-up, I found myself honking the General Lee's horn, which, just like in the show, plays a few notes of Dixieland. Dukes of Hazzard: Racing For Home definitely brought to fore my inner 11-year-old.

Overall, if you are a fan of the Dukes television show, this game is certainly worth a rent. For a few fleeting moments, you’ll enjoy being behind the wheel of the Lee, racing along the dirt roads of Hazzard County proper, where goofy cops always end up flying into ponds and men named ‘Cooter’ are auto mechanics. If you are looking to plop a hard earned $50 on the counter at your local game store, please heed my advice and use that money for a racing game that will keep you entertained longer, like Gran Turismo 2.

Gaming Age
Dukes of Hazzard definitely isn't a bad game, but there are better racing games out there that are worth more worth your money. Fans of the series will likely have more appreciation for the game than others, but gamers looking for something new might also find some enjoyment being "modern day Robin Hoods" in this average, thought refreshingly good TV show themed racer.

The development of this game switched hands only a few months before its release, and after playing the game at length, you really get the impression that the game was handed to the new development team with the instructions, "Make sure it doesn't lock up so we can ship it before the holidays." With more polish this could have been a fun little driving game. But as it stands, Dukes of Hazzard: Racing For Home is way too buggy and way too easy to be fun for long. It's likely that you'll be able to finish this game in one rental period, but if you're a big fan of the series, you should probably just buy the game anyway.

You know, I wanted to like this game. It’s got a great opening sequence and some amusing videos between missions, but the gameplay itself is the weakest that I’ve ever played on a Playstation. In fact, there are games on the Commodore 64 that are better than this. Some of you out there may share fond memories of the Dukes of Hazzard. That’s all right, catch a rerun on TNN. Really want to play the game? Do your wallet a favor and rent it. I guarantee you that after one night of playing, no one will want to buy this game. Besides, after two hours, you should finish this game.

Sinister Games är ansvariga för Dukes of Hazzard. Namnvalet på spelbolaget är uppenbart efter att man har testa spelet. Att de är onda, det är helt klart. Så onda man bara kan bli.
