It's almost as if FIFA 2000 were EA Sport's attempt to Americanize soccer. Banking on the success of the US Women's World Cup Team by including Foudy, replacing favorite Motson with American commentator Schoen, and introducing the MLS teams, FIFA 2000 is the most US-friendly version of FIFA to hit shelves. This gives FIFA 2000 an entirely different feel than previous versions of the series, but it still delivers everything you've come to expect from FIFA. FIFA 2000 is more than just better than last year's game, it is easily the best soccer game ever to grace the PlayStation.

I am normally the biggest critic of these yearly sporting updates which are churned out simply to squeeze more money from the average punter. However I do believe that 2000 is probably the best FIFA soccer game to date. Of course that statement may only last until FIFA 2001 turns up next year. I suppose what you really want to know is that should you already own last years version is there enough improvement to warrant a further investment? Graphically... yes! Gameplay wise... it's more of the same! Regardless, it will sell by the droves and one thing's for sure, there will be another next year... and the next... and the next...

I vividly remember playing soccer games developed by EA Sports in the past. They were terrible on the PS console, until last year, when FIFA 99 came out of nowhere. This game is very similar to its predecessor, especially concerning gameplay. It's improved in the graphics department, which should make it better than FIFA 99, unless you're a fan of video game soundtracks. The compilation of music from last year's version was one of the best ever put together for a sports title. I think I've stressed that point already. Personally, I enjoy playing FIFA 99 for that reason, but it won't stop me from moving on to this one. I'm a huge proponent of updated rosters, and the addition of Major League Soccer, as well as classic teams, only helps expand the roster.

Always thorough with great attention to detail, EA Sports comes through for all of the soccer fans of the world. They continue to make each new edition in the FIFA series better than the last, proving that they are not just content to pass on new versions without particular consideration paid to graphics, gameplay, controls, and authenticity. If you have any desire to play the best soccer game on the market, FIFA 2000 is your first place pony.

Hey, it's been a while coming, but the company previously known as 'motion capture casualty' has come full circle and-in FIFA 2000: Major League Soccer-recaptured the brilliance of its earliest football games. With last year's effort nearly there, the 2000 edition improves on a good thing, bringing the MLS franchise into the mix to better appeal to US fans of the sport. In a nutshell, the game plays superbly.

So what!

There really isn’t much else to it. All the original elements remain, the enjoyable player transfer system, the players still look like they’re wearing paper masks of the players they’re supposed to be and EA is set for another Christmas hit thanks to their promotion advertising. FIFA admirers we may be, but it’s the fans who lose out because that Gascoigne magic and invention has deserted EA Sports, as it did our fallen England star prior to World Cup ’98.

But even with it's share of problems, FIFA 2000: Major League Soccer does a great job of brining the sport of soccer to casual gamers. Soccer fanatics will not be disappointed as it features strong gameplay and a wealth of variety!
