FIFA 2001's visuals are also something to highly boast about, they certainly go down as being some of the best first generation PS2 graphics, with Madden NFL 2001, SSX, and Tekken Tag Tournament being the three best so far. Make sure that you give FIFA 2001 a look-see, especially if you are a sports or soccer fan, this is an absolute must have game.

FIFA 2001 isn't flawless, but the game is extremely well rounded and it excels in every category. The game follows in the footsteps of last year's amazing game and sets new graphical and gameplay standards for the series. And though FIFA 2001 leaves plenty of room for improvement in the future, this game is an excellent first effort on the PS2 and it offers some of the best soccer available on a console.

Wenn auf der Packung schon Nichtigkeiten wie "aufeinander folgende Spielzeiten mit Aufstiegs- und Abstiegsmodus" oder "neue Steilpasstechniken" als verkaufsfördernde Features angebracht werden, weiß der Fan hoffentlich, was die Stunde geschlagen hat. Selbst wenn wirklich erneut Stars ins Motion-Capturing-Studio gebeten wurden, sieht man es FIFA 2001 nicht an. Die PlayStation ist technisch ausgereizt. Natürlich ist das Gekicke nicht schlechter geworden. Nur braucht es niemand, der bereits einen der drei Vorgänger im Regal stehen hat. Und dafür gibt's einen "Zahn der Zeit"-Punkteabzug.

Craving a soccer game for your PlayStation? EA Sports has everyone beat in terms of options and teams, while the playcontrol has always been very solid. However, as with most of the EA Sports lines, this game isn’t a whole lot different from last season’s. If you don’t follow the roster changes of the soccer world, there is even less of a difference. I can’t find a reason to recommend this game. At the most it’s a rental.

Trots försämringarna är FIFA 2001 inget dåligt fotbollsspel. Spelkontrollen är lika bra som vanligt och trots att jag stör mig lite på att motståndarna sällan jobbar som ett lag när man själv har bollen flyter matcherna oftast bra. Däremot tycker jag att det är en onödig investering. FIFA 2000 är fortfarande ett bättre alternativ. Att skaffa FIFA 2001 bara för att få tillgång till de senaste laguppgifterna vore näst intill vansinnigt.
