The removal of the back to back dual fighting mode has taken a lot out of the Fighting Force sequel. I though that Core would expand on this concept other than drop it in the trash can. Without it FF 2 becomes just another action shoot-em-up of which there many already available on the Playstation.

Fighting Force 2 is many things but it is not a good sequel to Fighting Force. Those of you looking for one more action/adventure title might want to give this one a look, but only until Syphon Filter 2. Come to think of it, just go play Syphon Filter again. You deserve better than this.

Bref, un jeu de mules qui paraît sympa au début mais qui lasse bien rapidement. Je ne vois quelles leçons ont tiré Core Design des problèmes du premier épisode quand on voit qu'ils recommencent les mêmes erreurs.

If you're lucky, you don't remember the original Fighting Force. The game tried to resurrect the Final Fight-style game by providing scads of bad guys you could beat by simply pounding on the punch button until everyone was dead. To put it bluntly, the first Fighting Force was not a good game. Fighting Force 2 takes the same basic beat-'em-up ethic and melds it with a pinch of Lara Croftian camera work and a smidgen of Metal Gear-esque espionage. The resulting game is better than the original, but it still comes off as an incredibly dull piece of software.

Without wishing to be nasty, Fighting Force 2 is a real disappointment, particularly given Core's high-quality track record in this genre. But, if anything, FF2 just doesn't push Dreamcast's capabilities, and it's not fun to play. Even if you're desperately searching for a good Tomb Raider clone, you won't find one here. There are plenty of other third-person action adventures on the horizon and you'd really do better to wait for them.

I admire Core's attempt to change the format to a more intelligent one, or at least a slightly more intelligent one, but this didn't even get that far. It's like they took an old, tired genre and made a bad game even worse. The original Fighting Force wasn't great, but it seemed like a Final Fight type game, which was its attraction. This one seems like a bad mutation that couldn't shake its Final Fight clothes, but wants to be something more, like Metal Gear Solid. It's half way between both, and fails in both categories.

Fighting Force 2 is one game that seriously needs to be pumped up. While it is actually playable, and an attempt at something different from the awful first Fighting Force, this game is so boring I can hardly stand it. There's no variety in fighting foes. There's no exploration or depth. If you wondered why I mentioned Comedy Central in the beginning, it's because this game is a joke.
