Guilty Gear

Une réussite qui vient enfin proposer une alternative valable à l’hégémonie de Capcom dans le domaine du jeu en 2D. L’action est omniprésente et on arrête que quand les ampoules au bout des doigts commencent à se faire trop sentir :).

Guilty Gear may fall just short of the greats but it's still deserving of classic status. It's a wonder that such an excellent game came virtually out of nowhere. If you consider yourself a fighting connoisseur, it comes highly recommended. No true fan of the genre should be without a copy.

To summarize the Guilty Gear experience is to look to the best parts of other four-star fighting games. Fast, furious action, with truly awesome characters and moves worthy of the Darkstalkers series, Guilty Gear is one of the few non-Capcom or SNK 2D fighters to make any sort of impact on the genre. If you like 2D fighters with a little flair, GG comes highly recommended. With its excellent gameplay, surprisingly good graphics, secret characters, and kick-ass aural experience, Guilty Gear (minus some spit and polish) is as good as it gets.

En cualquier caso, Guilty Gear es un gran juego de lucha 2D que puede ofrecer muy buenos momentos tanto en solitario como acompañado por un segundo jugador en el modo “Versus”. Además, los fans del heavy metal disfrutarán con la cantidad de guiños a canciones o grupos que inundan el juego (que os invitamos a descubrir por vosotros mismos). No está a la altura de Street Fighter Alpha 3, pero es una opción para tener en cuenta, con pocos fallos pero muchas virtudes.

Guilty Gear has some interesting original features, like special moves listed on the load screens (great idea), health meters that "peel off" layers (not so great), and eye-popping "instant" kills (ouch!). I like how this game retains its original Japanese voice samples, but that grinding guitar background music has got to go. I was also disappointed that high scores and rankings are not saved to memory card. Still, Guilty Gear is fun to play, and 2D die-hards will certainly want this in their collection.
