I recommend this game to anyone. I think that if you play a few holes you will be hooked. After you become hooked, you will be obsessed (at least I was) with unlocking all of the other characters and courses. Before long, you will have your favorite courses, players and shots. If you are looking for some good fun with the underlying complexity of real golf with a thick candy shell, Hot Shots Golf will satisfy.
The Video Game Critic
The background music is pleasant, and the crisp sound effects include the "whoosh" of your swing and the "tink" of the ball falling in the cup. It's possible to cue applause and voice sound effects ("Hurry up", "Nice shot") by hitting buttons when you're opponent is up, and once your friends figure this out, they'll absolutely annoy the hell out of you. Hot Shot Golf has aged well because its core gameplay is good as gold.
But Hot Shots doesn't shoot for the moon. The game's depth lands a few courses short of a full golf game, delivering a respectable five courses, but none of the pro players or other niceties of PGA Tour '98. And once you figure out how to compensate for variables like wind physics, bunkers, and the rough, you'll find yourself wanting more. If you can live without the pro licenses, and the idea of fast, fun, accessible golf intrigues you, schedule a tee time with this impressive game.
Having played both real and computerized golf, It fair to say that the real thing is far more frustrating and time consuming. Everybodies/Hotshots Golf has appeared from nowhere and taken the world by storm! Gone are the long loading times of the courses, gone are the over complicated "swing-meters" and instead we are given an enjoyable game that although easy to get into, will take some serious playing to master.
Possibly the best part of the game design is on the putting green - at last someone has produced a method that works very well. If you have never played golf then this is the ideal way to learn about the game and if you are an avid player, then don't look past this game either.
Hot Shots Golf is a good game for fans of golf who are a bit sick of ultra-realism. Some of you, however, will find the gameplay a little too familiar. Either way, you're not going to be disappointed...
In the end, what Hot Shots Golf has managed to achieve is a game that looks good, is easy to play, and is difficult to master. No mean feat in any gaming category, let alone golf. Camelot has also managed to create a golf game that will appeal not only to golf fans but the average gamer as well. It's a game loaded with options and secrets that beg to be discovered and promises a good time along the way. While some hard-core golf fanatics might be turned off by the cartoonish nature of the characters, this in no way detracts from the game, and in some ways enhances it as well. So, while we wait to see what Electronic Arts does with its Tiger Woods license, gamers and golf fans alike would do well to investigate Hot Shots Golf, the golf game that truly is everybody's golf.
So, if you're not a serious golfer, but wouldn't mind a fun golf game that you'll keep playing despite yourself, Hot Shots is the one for you.
Everybody's Golf zal volgens mij geen hit worden want wie echt in golf geïnteresseerd is, speelt liever een zo accuraat mogelijke simulator, en wie niet in golf geïnteresseerd is... die koopt het ook niet.
