Mega Man fans will be right at home with X4. For solid 2-D platform gameplay, it's a definite must-have for any action gamer's library.

Super Play

Mega Man X4 is a solid improvement over X3 and a fitting true introduction into the next generation. As far as difficulty goes, this one's another decent entry point for newcomers because, aside from the final boss, there aren't many troublesome spots (even that jet-riding stage isn't THAT bad once you get the hang of it). It feels different yet very familiar. It's perhaps the best sequel in the series as it manages to capture what made the original so special and beloved. Check this one out, either on the original disc, in the Mega Man X Collection for GC/PS2, or on the PlayStation Network as a PSOne Classic. No excuses!

Mega Man X4 is a good game. I think the levels were well done and this game brings back memories of yesteryear even though I have never really played any of the other Mega Man games. It just has that familiar feel to it. I think the difficulty may turn some people off, though. It is tough to work your way through the levels only to be continually defeated by the boss at the end of each level.

Yes, Mega Man X4 is a solid game, but no, it doesn't really offer anything new to the series. If you can't get enough of Mega Man, by all means pick this up. But if you1ve already played a Mega Man game and didn't care for it too much, don't bother.

Aesthetically, Mega Man X4 is a sizeable improvement over its predecessors, but you must remember that it's only a side scroller. Seventy or 80 similar games are out there that are just as good. If you're looking for something new, look elsewhere. If you're one of those weirdo platformer fans, though, Mega Man X4 is what you crave.
