Mega Fun

Yes, there was a few things that can be improved like the overall "polish" and "feel" of the menu's and extra features, but the overall drving aspect of the game was rock solid. The graphics are pretty much what you have come to expect from our beloved Playstation at this point…nice car models but somewhat grainy backgrounds. Everything moves along at a nice clip and the two-player game was a blast to play. I should also make special note of the sound effects…they are brilliant with deep, throaty engine/exhaust sounds and the cool sound of crunching gravel under the tires. The game also features fully licensed cars from VW, Honda, Ford and Nissan to name a few. I also liked the fact that you can actually catch up to, and pass another driver in this Rally game instead of just racing against yourself and the best time. Overall this is a sterling rally title from EA Sports and certainly deserves a test drive from your most comfortable seat.

I wasn't really a big fan of Rally Cross and this racer handles too similar for my liking. This won't present much of a challenge to the more technically minded racing fan and soon deteriorates into a style of handling that feels like you are taking part in a slalom run. As I am sure you will have guessed from my review above it's better than EA's last racer, Sport's Car GT, but still not much fun to play!

With so many racing titles on the shelves, I can't think of a reason why anyone, except maybe the mothers and girlfriends of the developers, would want to buy this game.
Super Play
This wasn't a very shrewd pick-up for EA. As a regional-based game, it has only novelty appeal here. As a rally racing game, nothing hasn't been done here that hasn't been done much better in V-Rally 2 and Colin McRae Rally. And as a game, it sucks diesel. With good steering, it might have been a fun niche game. Might being the key word. But you don't drive this game. It drives you, right into cul-de-sacs and trees. Keep your lead foot off this game. It's true scrap.
