PSX Extreme
Monopoly has always been an excellent strategy game and the Playstation version rocked my world with it's speedy pace and solid AI opponents. If you have anything more than a passing interest in the board game, this version is definitely worth your time and karmic energy. (And, hey, maybe Hasbro will consider putting out Star Wars Monopoly for the PS like they did for the PC).

The game is a timeless classic. It plays out very well on the Playstation and hasn't lost its lustre over the years. The game is easy to customize depending on your mood (and time!) and has a good selection of computer opponents - from extremely stupid on up to real estate moguls. It's actually a pretty good real estate simulation made easier to play thanks to the PlayStation. You don't have to dig around for the play money any more or bother setting up the board… just pop in the CD turn on your PSX and it's off to old Atlantic City to buy up some property!

If you like Monopoly but not the mess of a board game, then you should be adequately satisfied with this title. The game has enough options to allow you to play the way you always played at home. I think with a little improvement this could have been a better game that was a bit easier to play. It was really frustrating having to go to a totally different screen just to see who owns what property. On the whole, once you learn to work around the shortcomings, you will get a few nights of family enjoyment out of the game.

The Gremlin Interactive designers managed to make the PlayStation version look and feel just like the original Monopoly. They even threw in some cute computer animations of thimbles and statues driving around the board. Had they managed to readily supply you with all the pertinent game information onscreen, the PlayStation version may have been more than a novelty item with little replay value.

All Game Guide
There really is no reason whatsoever for multiple human players to play this game. The game moves way too slow for this to take place. For those of you Monopoly enthusiasts out there without a bunch of friends that feel up to a game, this one is for you. For multiple people that are fans of the game, stick with the classic board. You will have a much better time.
