MTV Sports: T.J. Lavin's Ultimate BMX

Även om det är kul att spela själv är tvåspelarläget en av det här spelet starkaste sidor. Här finns mängder av varianter; i Turf War gäller det att kontrollera landytor som övertas genom att utföra trick på dem. Bomb är en explosiv tävling där spelarna måste slå varandras trick för att kasta bomben vidare och The King är en variant på klassiska Herren på täppan.

De tricks zijn dan wel relatief makkelijk uit te voeren maar het besturen van je biker gaat stroefjes. Een ander punt is het landen na de verschillende stunts, het lijkt bijna onmogelijk om op twee banden neer te komen waardoor je vaker in het stof bijt dan je lief is. Nogal frustrerend als je net een onmogelijke trick hebt uitgevoerd en het maximaal aantal punten denkt te behalen. Eigenlijk rammelt deze game aan alle kanten en omdat de volledige titel: MTV Sport's T.J. Lavin Ultimate BMX toch te lang is om te onthouden, kun je hem beter maar weer snel vergeten.

While it certainly doesn't qualify as a great title in the genre, T.J. Lavin's Ultimate BMX is at least strong enough to occupy an afternoon or two, and if you're a tremendous fan of this particular brand of game, you might get some more fun out of it. However, if you've never experienced this sort of title, you'll want to give Tony Hawk's Pro Skater a try first.

In short, T.J. Lavin's Ultimate BMX is a second-rate interpretation of the extreme sports genre, and it rigidly follows the conventions set out by games before it, rather than offering any innovations. With other games available, such as Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, that do exactly what T.J. Lavin's Ultimate BMX does only better, there is no conceivable reason to pick up this substandard game.
