Wow! What a great game I've landed in. The graphics are great, the controls are easy to master, and the tracks have tons of hidden roads, decoys, and surprises to keep you on your toes. Going head to head against your friends is still quite fun despite the split screen feature. Running from the cops, who in fact prove to be very skilled at catching you if you're not willing to push the limits, is perhaps the best part of any racing game I've seen yet. Best if all, its just fun to play! Need For Speed 3: Hot Pursuit is certainly among the best racing games to hit the market yet.
The Video Game Critic
NFS3 has a load of options including varying weather conditions and police cars which make the races a lot more interesting. The pumping background music is outstanding. If I had one reservation, it would be with the so-so framerate. Even so, Need For Speed 3 did a fine job of rejuvenating the series.
Being chased by the intelligent computer-controlled cops while dodging a road full of traffic is easily one of the most white-knuckle events in racing games to date. Combine this with some of the best track designs ever, which include plenty of shortcuts and secrets, and you have one of the best racers anywhere. The only complaint that actually prevents NFS3 from getting a full five stars is the chopper two-player split-screen mode. it just isn't up to the quality of the rest of the game-a big disappointment. As a one-player game, however, it could be the pinnacle of the genre.
The one thing noticeably absent in all previous version of Need For Speed is, ironically enough, speed. This series started off on the 3DO and has since moved over to the PlayStation and PC, but every single year, the game came out with all the options and potential and a complete lack of speed. With Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit, EA seems to have finally figured out how to maximize performance on the PlayStation. The variety of cars, tracks, conditions, and modes make NFS III one of the best racing games on any system and a suitable alternative to Gran Turismo.
A truly awesome driving game with everything thrown in except for the kitchen sink (and a dash view...errrr). You get a stable of incredible cars, wonderfully designed tracks and immersive gameplay thanks to some of the best sound effects ever to grace a console racer. I'll tell ya, I wasn't looking forward to another NFS title but was damn glad to see this one on my Playstation. I know a lot of people out there are waiting for Gran Tourismo to get released but to be honest, NFS III offers enough different types of racing modes and thrills that it will stand on its own and actually compliment GT very well. It's a very solid, competent racer.
When Need for Speed was originally released for the 3DO a few years back, it was without question the definitive driving game of its time. Since then, the PlayStation has seen three titles bearing the Need for Speed title: Need for Speed, Need for Speed II, and Need for Speed: V-Rally. All were fair, but none was ever considered the dominant racing game that the first was.
In the end, Need for Speed is a brilliant game, and is a clear winner in the racing department. It's deep and provides a feel of realism that's phenomenal, and puts many, many games on both PlayStation and Nintendo 64 to shame. Get this one and play it with your friends.

Även om Need For Speed 3 inte riktigt kan mäta sig med Gran Turismo
är det definitivt ett av de bästa racingspel som gjorts på länge.
