If you find yourself irritated by the notion of having to learn a less-than-obvious control system then you'll want to pass this up straight away, and if you're not prepared to sink a few hours into learning the basics you won't take much away from Panzer either. Alas, we don't often suggest rentals on EuroGamer, but if you want to avoid disappointment, sampling it before you hand over your crisp banknotes comes highly recommended.

Panzer front offers a campaign mode for each side, Russia, the United States, and Germany, but in this mode you're only given access to the 6 fantasy tanks created by the developers (two per side). These tanks are rather ridiculous, utilizing such things as 150mm guns and jet engines, items better suited to a game like Seek & Destroy. Thankfully, you're given access to all 25 scenarios in the game's Tactics mode which stays true to its name by offering a more realistic and tactical experience. After selecting which scenario you'd like to play, you're able to choose the various tanks that you'll encounter as well as view briefings for the coming engagement.
