Parasite Eve II

A lot of people hated the original PE due to its slightly annoying menus and really annoying item capacity limits. It was a game that didn't quite fit in anywhere with its original gameplay style. Square decided to go with something a bit more traditional with the sequel and wound up with a fine little game in the process. The game's graphics and sound were everything that you'd expect from Square, and even without great music, the story and gameplay held you in. Overall, Parasite Eve 2 gets an 88%.

I played through Parasite Eve 2 the day after I finished Parasite Eve and I didn't really care for it at first. It's quite a bit different than the original and will take some time getting used to, just as the original Parasite Eve took some getting used to for RPG players. The game features a little bit for everyone and both RPG and action fans will enjoy it. Although I don't think it was quite as good as the original Parasite Eve, it's still an excellent game featuring innovative gameplay and stunning graphics. Other than some really annoying puzzles the game is really fun and easy to get addicted to. I enjoyed Parasite Eve 2 a lot and I highly recommend fans of Parasite Eve and anyone looking for an innovative game.

Parasite Eve is an upgraded and modified version of a timeless classic, the action horror game but with added twists, controls, features and an increased difficulty level making it a title well worth the money. Do not expect to jump into the game and simply stroll through it picking off the monsters as you go. You will only survive the horrors with close observation and a strategically thought out use of your available resources.

A quality game, easily outclassing the Resident Evil Genre - maybe a little bit short, and definitely short on locations - but there are only 2 discs. Highly recommended. It blends the best elements of Survival Horror with 3rd Person Action Adventure, and RPG.

Parasite Eve II is a consistently good-looking action-adventure game that adopts its predecessor's cinematic style to an even more impressive effect. In the original Parasite Eve, which is a role-playing game with action-adventure elements, a young New York cop named Aya Brea has to deal with an epidemic that causes people to either die or mutate as the mitochondria in their bloodstreams awaken with chaotic energy. The sequel takes place shortly thereafter and disowns most of the original's role-playing game elements in favor of action-adventure gameplay reminiscent of Capcom's Resident Evil series. And while Parasite Eve II is consequently a better, more suspenseful game, it still suffers from a few problems, including ill-conceived puzzles and a few RPG elements that shouldn't have remained.

Most gamers should be pleased with this second effort in the Parasite Eve story, but those who loved the first one may be disappointed with the changes that Square have made in an attempt to attract the survival horror audience. You can't make everyone happy all of the time, but this title is recommended to any gamers who liked Capcom's series of horror adventures. Overall, this is still not as fun as blasting countless zombies, though.

While Parasite Eve II meets most of the criteria for a fairly good horror shoot-em-up, the biggest problem with it is that it doesnt really add anything that hasnt been done before several times. The underlying, flawed control framework of the game has already been revised and improved upon by other games. The story isnt anything to write home about since most of the plot points are telegraphed from a mile away, and the main character is written vanilla. While it doesnt commit any serious offenses, neither does it strive to present anything truly unique and inviting. If youre a fan of survival horror and you need a fix, or if you just need to play them all, Parasite Eve II will fit the bill. However, Parasite Eve II reminds me of those prefab paint-by-numbers kits you can get at a toyshop—the finished picture might look pretty neat and you might have fun doing it, but there isnt a whole lot of originality or creativity put into it.

The first Parasite Eve was the self-hailed "Cinematic RPG." The so-called "cinematics" in Parasite Eve 2 are generally less riveting. For example, the intro video. It's got the awesome techno track from the original, but remixed with less oomph. The video editing isn't the same quality as PE's intro, and it just comes out disappointing. That intro speaks for the whole game. Sure, there's better character modeling, but the flow into videos is not quite as good.

Tanken bakom Parasite Eve II är svårbegriplig. Att närma sig Resident Evil på det här synnerligen klumpiga sättet kan knappast vara en idealisk metod om man vill tillmötesgå fansen som älskade det första spelet i serien. Det hela faller platt till marken och lämnar efter sig frågor om varför spelet i sin helhet inte kunde ha varit bättre?

Parasite Eve 2 allie relativement bien le jeu de rôle et l'action/aventure. La réalisation graphique est d'une grande qualité, mais de nombreux petits défauts viennent assombrir le tableau : Les dialogues, exclusivement textuels, sont très (trop ?) nombreux, parfois fastidieux et souvent lassants. Les énigmes sont simplistes, et les combats, bien que superbes, déçoivent par leur absence de rythme. Les fans du genre devraient cependant apprécier la quinzaine d'heures de jeu qui les attend, et s'en mettre plein les yeux avec les cinématiques de Parasite Eve 2, vraiment sublimes.

Parasite Eve II is yet another sequel that manages to tarnish the name of a game that should've been left alone. In short, if you want to play a Resident Evil type game, get Resident Evil. If you want a horror RPG, replay the original Parasite Eve.
