For me, this game doesn't hold a lot of interest. While it did keep me playing for a surprising amount of time, I'm not exactly the target audience so after playing for 3-4 hours I felt I'd pretty much got all I'm going to get out of it. Like I said, I'm a little old for this type of game so my opinion doesn't really mean much. I highly recommend this game for the younger player whose parents won't let then get into Resident Evil 2 or hasn't quite grasped the complexity of the RPG games on the Playstation. If you've had all the Crash you can take and Rosco McQueen is too complicated for you, Rascal may be the game for you. I recommend a rental before you buy though.

To say I was disappointed with this game would be an understatement. Ever since I first starting hearing rumors about this game, I was looking forward to it. I don't think there are enough games geared for younger audiences. The terrible camera angles will keep everyone from kids to adults in a constant state of frustration. In my opinion, there is nothing worse than dying because your character does not go in the direction you think it should. If you don't want to take my word for it, rent it.

Despite all the eye candy and this game's enormous potential, only the most forgiving gamers will stick with this title after a brief play. This game is one slippery Rascal.

GameSpot
Rascal is a visually confusing 3D adventure that is as entertaining as shopping in a crowded grocery store. It is another in a long line of 3D adventure games far below the Mario standard; this game proves dull and inconsistent.

IGN
Overall Rascal plays like the unholy progeny of Spot Goes to Hollywood, Swagman, and Jersey Devil. Weak camera, ugly control, and half-assed game design just help to underline Psygnosis' perhaps deserved reputation as a graphics tart. Avoid this game at all costs.

Computer and Video Games (CVG)
Our fears on playing a preview version of Rascal were confirmed. Although the engine design is excellent - really fast and fluid detailed 3D - the level design is not. Rascal offers basic gameplay and the minimum of controls. Puzzles are simplistic and it's only the graphics that really change. Shame to see such a technically impressive project end up so superficial.
