Power Unlimited
Sentinel Returns is een absolute klasse. In de afgelopen jaren heb ik nog nooit zo iets vernieuwends gezien met zo'n veslavingsniveau en waar je zo in opgaat. Met zo'n 666 levels zal ik waarschijnlijk tot na de eeuwwisseling compleet hooked zijn!

Super Play
Sentinel Returns är lite skumt även när man har spelat det ett tag. Det är dock fortfarande ett hyggligt spel om man ger det en chans. Även fast spelets skapare Geoff Crammond inte fick vara med om att producera den här uppföljaren.

Whether or not the bigger picture of the game is too abstract for you, or you don't give a damn about what games are "about," since it's the gameplay that really matters anyway, Sentinel Returns is easily the most fun addition to the genre since, well, the original Sentinel. And like the previous game before it, it's the pacing and the immediate brain-teasing logic that make it so addictive.

Absolute Playstation
The first few levels have an excellent learning curve allowing you to very quickly get to grips with the gameplay. You can strategically move around the mountains avoiding the Sentinels gaze taking up to half an hour to complete a level. Unfortunately you also quickly realize that by heading directly towards the Sentinel seems just as effective and the level is over within a matter of minutes. This meant that the loading times sometimes lasted longer than the level itself. After 40 levels the difficulty increases because you must first destroy several sentries before you can get your hands on the Sentinel. However, all this seems to do is prolong the inevitable and after one evenings play in which I ploughed through over 60 levels, I gave up due to boredom.

Le concept, a priori difficile, devient plus clair après quelques parties. Toutefois, il faut avouer que ce titre est assez peu jouable, que les décors sont trop sombres, les temps de chargements longs, le système de sauvegardes peu pratique... Bref, le plus grand nombre ne s'y fera sans doute pas et c'est pour cette raison que ce titre unique au concept exceptionnel se retrouve dans ces pages. Dommage...

Det största problemet är att konceptet inte längre håller. Sammanlagt finns det 650 banor, men de är inte särskilt varierade. Det enda som händer är att de gradvis blir svårare. Har man spelat det första spelet kan det tänkas att Sentinel Returns väcker gamla minnen till liv, men något annat är det knappast frågan om.
