Cool new characters, including a schoolgirl, a dinosaur and a kangaroo add to the value of this gaming feast and we simply can't recommend it highly enough. We can't stop playing it either.
Coming Soon Magazine (Nov 15, 1996)
If there was only one game for the PlayStation you should own, that would be Tekken 2. Namco simply made the best fighting video game ever, and it will be some time before it encounters any serious threat. Virtua Fighter 3 which has been announced on the Sega Saturn for late 1997 will, of course, be the most serious competitor, but until then, Tekken 2 is definitively your best choice on the PlayStation.
Gamezilla (1996)
Tekken 2 is definitely not a disappointment. The creators could have skated by on name alone to sell this game, but really went the distance to improve on the first and release a better game. Boy, did they hit the mark. The fighting engine is awesome. The graphics are awesome. The characters' moves are awesome. This game just plain kicks ass. Go buy it right now and you will thank me after only a few rounds.
This game take the PlayStation to a new level of excellence. The graphics are the most fluid and detailed yet seen. The gameplay is even hotter than the original. Added fighters and game modes make this a game you will play over and over again.
GameSpot (Dec 01, 1996)
If you like fighting games at all, you will love Tekken 2. The graphics and fluid character movement will astound and amaze. The simple control format allows inexperienced players to begin play immediately with minimal effort, and will keep the interest of expert players for months - thanks to the game's complex system of moves and combos. Tekken 2 gives you more than your money's worth.
Video Games (Sep, 1996)
The Video Game Critic (Jul 15, 1999)
Not only are there less polygons, but there's less use of textures as well. King in particular looks pretty bad. Tekken 2's 3D fighting action still delivers the goods however, with smooth action that's noticeably faster. T2's underlying gameplay is beyond reproach, but it's a shame they had to compromise the graphics.
Game Revolution (Sep, 1996)
All told, Tekken 2 is a terrific game. The variety of moves and characters will entertain you and your friends late into the night. The challenge of beating the computer with every single character (to release the new fighters) will keep you playing until your fingers seize up. To date, this is easily the best fighting game for the PlayStation and comes highly recommended.

Hey Ulf! Was heißt hier Quantität?
IGN (Nov 26, 1996)
No one's saying Tekken 2 is perfect, although it sure comes close. As it stands, it's one of the best fighters available for the PlayStation.
GamesCollection (Nov 14, 2008)
