The game's musical score was named Best Original Soundtrack of the Year in Game Players 1995 Holiday Edition (Vol. 8, No. 13)

Originally live action videos were filmed and was going to be used, but were cut out. These can now be seen in the PS2 game Twisted Metal: Head-On (Extra Twisted Edition).

The game was originally called High Octane, but this was changed due to Bullfrog's game Hi-Octane. The next suggestion was Urban Assault until it finally was named Twisted Metal.
