Overall, the game is mesmerizing and deep. It has one of the most interesting plots I've ever seen in a game, along with some really cool villains like Godard the Diviner. The gameplay is much improved as well, and the 65+ hour length is well-worth the $ 30 USD it costs. This one gets my highest recommendation.

Vandal Hearts II is still worth playing, and it's more than twice as big as the original. The sprite graphics are largely unchanged from the first game, and the spirited, renaissance-style music is excellent. It's no classic, but fans of the original game might find this hard to resist.

If you remember any of your gaming experiences of today five years down the road, Vandal Hearts 2 probably won't be one of them. Fortunately, though, it is a fun and much welcome addition to the Strategy-RPG genre, and worth checking out by fans of the genre or simply fans of RPG's.

While Vandal Hearts II lacks the grand feel of Final Fantasy Tactics, it is a solid and rewarding strategy-RPG. It has flaws of its own, but it doesn't fall into the pitfalls that frustrated many of Final Fantasy Tactics' players, making it well suited for both veterans and newcomers to the genre.

Den senaste tidens framgångar har Suikoden-serien stått för och Vandal Hearts har aldrig riktigt fått fotfäste. Kanske beror det mer på spelets strategiska upplägg än på dess substans, men med andra spelet i serien kan man bara konstatera att Konami inte har lyckats att vidareutveckla spelet och dess handling tillräckligt för att locka till sig både gamla och nya spelare. Jag hade hoppats mer på en sådan uppföljare, speciellt när det första spelet i serien verkligen var prisvärt. Och där var det främst handlingen och den genuina stämningen som var den starka drivkraften. I Vandal Hearts II är det tyvärr inte så.
