In the end, Vanishing Point is one of the most original and enjoyable racing games to come around in a long time. The arcade and simulation aspects seem to fight against each other at first, but the road rage wears off once you unlock a few cars and tune-up options. If anything, the number of tournaments, single races, time trials, stunt courses, rally races, and two-player competitions is such that you'll be busy for a long, long time.
Gamezone (Germany) (Apr 26, 2001)

Not the most visually impressive game ever, Vanishing Point still contains enough enjoyment and depth to please racing fans. The Stunt Driver mode really adds a lot to the mix.
Power Unlimited (Apr, 2001)
GameZone (Feb 26, 2001)
This game despite all it's hidden features is basically a no frills racing game. The only feature that stands out is the stunt section, but even this is a sort of bargain brand stunt show. No shiny lights, crowds, or fire (despite the action in the intro movie). Many of the "stunts" are really just driving within the lines. Vanishing Point is a racing game. It's nothing special but a decent game nonetheless.
Game Chronicles (Feb 25, 2001)
Vanishing Point simply put is just another average racing game. Clockwork tried to put a twist on the genre but racing against the clock is no more innovative than the gimmicks used in Tokyo Extreme or the Kudos system in Metropolis Street Racer. Perhaps my expectations are a bit high as I have multiple systems and titles to choose from in my daily life, but even keeping this game in context with other PSX titles I can think of other games that are more deserving of your gaming dollar.
There are plenty of other things to complain about in Vanishing Point, but every other element of the game can be best described as "not nearly as good as Gran Turismo," such as dated graphics and monotonous music. Stay on the right track -- stick with Sony's racing series.
Game Revolution (Feb, 2001)
Vanishing Point suffers from fatal conceptual flaws. Complete reliance on unlockable features, limited choices of starting vehicles and tracks, and staggered opponent start times have taken what could have been a good game and ruined it.
