Xenogears

Xenogears is a wonderful game! With the most minor of flaws, and great graphics, storyline, gameplay, and even sound, it's definitely a winner. I'm not the only one who thinks Xenogears to be the best, or one of the best RPG's to date. If you are a Square fan and like the Final Fantasy series, you're bound to like this game... And my advice is that if you don't already have it, get it now, because the price seems to actually be going up!

Xenogears is a must for any RPG lover, regardless of your views toward Squaresoft. With its depth and creativity, Xenogears is my choice for RPG of the year.

With such an epic adventure, does the game harbor any flaws? Thankfully, the weaknesses are minor in comparison to the overall strengths of the game. Things such as a rotating camera that sometimes makes viewing an area limited and slightly clumsy in tight spaces are easily forgivable since they don't interfere often at all. Some people may also feel that there are too many story-related cinemas and that the plot is too confusing to follow, but immersion is a key factor in Xenogears and the questions you may have about the storyline are all answered at some point in the game. Beyond these minor gripes, the total experience of Xenogears is definitely something that no RPG fan should miss out on. With an intricate storyline, beautifully designed characters and mechs, and some of the most innovative features in an RPG, you simply can't afford to pass this game up.

Now why don't we get on to the basics. The graphics in Xenogears look good but sometimes when you are running around they seem outdated. But when you are in a gear battle they look very good. The sound as always is excellent since it's a Square game. The gameplay and the story is very good and very well told. The control takes very little time to get used to. As for the value of the game it is very very long. The first CD is 60-70 hours long, and the second CD is about 20-25 hours long. By the way if you like Anime's you should really check out Xenogears because the anime's in the game are so hot. And on top of all of that, the intros are the greatest ever.

Although Xenogears features great character development, a spectacular soundtrack and an innovative battle system, the highest point of the game is in its story, which is in my opinion one of the finest in any game. This is a game that every RPG fan should play, and if you can push yourself through some dated graphics and a sometimes slow paced game, I’m sure you’ll be amazed!

Overall, this is one of the best game ever to grace the PlayStation. It has all you ever want from an RPG, even overtaking Final Fantasy VII's position in videogames history. For me, this one ranks on par with FF VII, if not better than it. Buy this one! You won't regret it.

For the RPGamer looking for a wonderful story, Xenogears is a must have, epic, eighty hour tale full of memorable moments and interesting characters. Those who prefer a lot of fast paced action on the other hand should steer clear.

Xenogears takes the term "mixed bag" to the extreme. It provides one of the most absorbing and passionate stories in any videogame, but, at the same time, it's a game that plays like an absolute pile. In the end, it comes down to this: you have to give Xenogears a try. It'll take a lot of effort and sufferance, but it's more than worth it. The world of Xenogears is worth living in, its people are worth meeting. It will test your patience, but remember: God sees patience as a virtue.

Overall, Xenogears is an excellent game. Its story is definitely the main driving point, so if you’re looking for an RPG with a wonderful and complex story, you should take a look at Xenogears . The story is one you’ll probably want to experience over and over again – if it weren’t for the flawed gameplay. The dungeons in the game are far too tedious and aggravating for me to ever want to go through them again. Even beyond all that, though, Xenogears remains one of my favorite games ever because of its unsurpassed story and characters, and I think that says something. But it is a game, and gameplay is an important factor, even for RPGs, so in the end, it’s up to you – if you think a game’s story is worth playing through some very frustrating dungeons, you will probably love Xenogears . If not, then this is one you can skip.

I was totally enraptured by this game. The first time I played through this game, it took me 60 hours to complete. The only time I stopped playing was to sleep, and the first thing I thought of when I woke up was playing the game. I have never played an role playing game more worthy of the title- by the end of the game, I felt like I was one of the characters.

Square's latest RPG is weird in a lot of ways, especially for Square. Xenogears' reliance on story, subtlety, and mood make it Square's most anime-like RPG thus far, in many ways making the game one of its best.

Another company has dealt another game into the Christmas pool, hoping to be a prospect on a Christmas wish-list. But before considering Xenogears, see if you are one of those who love role playing games before you buy. If you are, I'm sure you will enjoy the game as much as I did reviewing it.

The bottom line: If you ever liked an RPG, get emotional when little animated people live, love, and die, get a little hot at the thought of a female robot, and have about 70 hours to spend transfixed in front of the TV, you absolutely must go buy Xenogears.

While Xenogears may not have the depth or sheer magnitude of items/materia in FF7, it's still pretty respectable. As I mentioned at the top of the review, its strong point is its fabulous storyline. Both the gameplay and story take a while to get going, but once it starts building up some momentum, you'll find it hard to put down the controller.
