Despite its handful of shortcomings, Bridge Construction Set is a highly addictive, incredibly fun game that will inspire much temple rubbing. A Tetris for the engineer in you, BSC is one of those quick-to-pick-up, hard-to-master games that epitomize everything that your hobby of choice is all about. With a lot more polish and a random mission generator, BSC could very easily be the perfect game for those looking for a small game with more challenge than the Minesweeper-line of micro-games. Still, something tells me BCS is a love-it or hate-it affair. Thankfully, there is a demo available on Garage Games’ website, which - if the game I described sounds at all like something you’d enjoy - should be your next stop.

Die Handhabung ist recht gewöhnungsbedürftig und das Look and Feel ist nicht gerade so wie man es vom Mac gewohnt ist, aber für den Spaß den das Spiel bietet ist dieser Punkt eigentlich irrelevant. Man gewöhnt sich schnell an die Handhabung und trotz der wahnsinnigen Komplexität des Spiels mit dem Aufbau ist es sehr einfach zu bedienen und man stolpert nicht über Physikalische und Statische Übertreibungen. Ziel ist es Brücken zu bauen und damit seinen Spaß zu haben. Diese Grundidee wird genial einfach umgesetzt und ist sehr gut zu handhaben. Die Möglichkeit das Spiel nicht Fullscreen zu spielen ist eine gute Idee... So hat man die Möglichkeit das Spiel "mal eben nebenher" zu spielen. Der Monitor ist nicht blockiert und wenn man in ein anderes Programm wechselt, wird der Spielverlauf angehalten. Also alles in allem ein hervorragendes Spiel, ein wenig Denkarbeit, ein bisschen ausleben der Destruktiven Ader und sehr viel Spielspaß. Eine Empfehlung meinerseits ist es definitiv :-)

Before I get into replay value, I feel that it’s important to mention the fact that you can create your own levels (with adjustable ground heights, budgets, materials, etc.) and email them off to a friend, which also means that Chronic Logic could release new level packs at any time (or if they don’t, you can!). The inclusion of this level editor is vital to a game like this’s success. This brings the replay value from “pretty good” to “awesome”. All in all, games like this really don’t get the recognition they deserve, but are worth hours of fun. You don’t need a great PC to play it, so go ahead and download yourself a demo and try it out.
