The best part of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is that when I was finished playing it, I felt like I'd finished something that couldn't possibly have been any better than it was. The graphics are perfect, the sound is perfect, the gameplay is perfect, and it's the perfect length (10-15 hours). Playing the game, you will realize not only that you're playing something that a group of people put a lot of time and work into, but that they loved what they were making, and wanted the player to as well. They succeeded, and that's the highest compliment I can give any developer.

Prince of Persia: The Sand of Time lives up to its vaulted heritage. Ubi Soft Montreal has created its crowning (pun intended) achievement; no small feat considering their last project was Splinter Cell. Must Have. Must Own. Must Play.

An inevitable sequel could be even better, though. Here, the camera sometimes hops around at inopportune times, and the frustration factor can get extremely high if you don't immediately notice a key element to your goal. But those are minor complaints. Try stacking them against a wonderful fighting engine (I enjoyed the long battles—very satisfying), captivating story, and absolutely breathtaking graphics. Best of all, you'll want to show off Prince of Persia to friends, family, whoever, because of its strong cinematic presentation. Get this game.

Prince of Persia is not only one of the best looking games out on the Xbox, but it is a real enjoyment to play. I think I have said all that I need to say about the game so far. I do want to mention that the game is a tad bit short so if that makes you a little nervous you may want to rent it. From there you can make up your mind if it belongs in your library or not after you spend some time with it.

This game will definitely change and influence future platform games. It raises the bar in much the same way Grand Theft Auto 3 revolutionized car chase games. Although the game is a little on the short side - about 12 hours - it is the best 12 hours of gaming you will ever get for your money. The Xbox version we played also includes an added bonus - the original Prince of Persia 1 and 2. Also included are several documentaries on the making of the game. As for replay value, this is a game that is a pleasure to not only play repeatedly, but to also watch others play. From graphics to sound to music to plot to gameplay, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is the best console game of 2003.

There’s no doubt about it, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is one of the best, if not the best, games to come out this year. Everyone out there who has some extra Christmas cash left over should not hesitate to pick up a copy of this title. Never has combat and puzzle-solving come together so beautifully. One of 2003’s best and one of the best games available on every console.

Other than that, Prince of Persia is nigh flawless. There is no such thing as a perfect game, but Ubi Soft did their best to come close with this one. The cinematic and immersive experience contained within is enough to make any gamer looking for quality amidst the heaping piles of games squeal. Just don't forget the special feature: the ability to unlock Prince of Persia 1.

Prince of Persia isn't beyond improvement. Some battles throw too many enemies at you and a few of the puzzles are more grueling than fun, but with the game's seamlessly integrated concept, execution, and atmosphere, they're hardly worth complaining about.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been gathering all sorts of hype since its debut at the 2003 Electronics Entertainment Expo. Ubi Soft has taken the aging series and given it a brand new life. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is my favourite game of the year. It is such a joy to play. The controls combined with the super Dagger of Time rewind features makes it a game that rarely frustrates – it's just a real pleasure to go swinging, leaping and climbing around those beautifully created levels. The relationship between the Prince and the Maharaja's daughter Farah, is a wonderfully engaging tale that kept me glued to the controller until I'd finished the game.

Since the downward spiral of the Tomb Raider franchise, I've become a little disillusioned with the platform adventure genre, but Prince of Persia has reinvigorated my love for this type of game. Some games get by on enticing the player to continue through the promise of unlockable items, but Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is one game that will make even the most jaded game feel sheer joy from just swinging from one pole to the next. A true classic that will stand the test of time.

While giving the player such an array of get-out-of-jail-free cards may make the game seem a tad on the easy side, it's not. You're limited by the amount of sand in your dagger, which tends to get used up promptly during swordfights. That's the true genius of Prince of Persia: The game is perfectly balanced, melding those potentially frustrating moments with just the right dose of all-out fun. Combine that with beautifully rendered visuals -- including pristine lighting effects, sunny hazes, and slick character animation on par with a big-budget Disney flick -- and it's easy to see why Sands of Time is pegged as one of the year's finest.

Prince of Persia is a game that you can't put down. You'll save your game with the intention of going to eat/sleep/whatever, and decide to take a peek at the next trap or area. Three hours later you're still sitting there working on the latest puzzle. It's rare that a game can draw you in and keep you like that, but POP is that kind of rarity.

A generous amount of mind-teasing puzzles completes this trip to Persia. As in previous Prince of Persia games, you must figure out how to unlock gates and get past deadly traps using your brain rather than your brawn. These challenges aren't too hard, nor are they too easy they're made just right and fit well throughout the entire game.

Don?t mistake The Sands of Time for a rush job on an updated classic. Everything?s been redone, inside and out, and the result is a brand-new and winning experience. The gameplay has just the right balance of challenging puzzles and finger-numbing battles to deliver an exceptional adventure whether you?re royalty or not.

I really don't have any suggestions to Ubisoft for making this game better. They fulfilled all my hopes for the game and gave a little more then I hoped. By adding the first two Prince of Persia games they made lots of fans of the series happy. My only suggestion would be is if they make another game, to make it as well made as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was made.

The holiday season is creeping up from around the corner, and is technically already here. Prince of Persia is among the few games to be released this holiday season to be considered as a “must buy”. With around 10-15 hours of play, outstanding music, the best gameplay system ever conceived, and the two original Prince of Persia’s included…you will certainly get your money’s worth with the Prince. If you consider yourself a die-hard action gamer, or even an occasional gamer, there is no reason why Prince of Persia shouldn’t be in your collection.

I said it before and I will say it again: Prince of Persia is the one single game I enjoyed the most this year. The graphics, the music (regular readers know that I’m not all that into music, yet THIS soundtrack is a definite buy if released), the level design, the fighting, the jumping, the story – I can’t think of a single thing that leaves behind anything else but a good impression. If this isn’t (the) console Game of the Year material, I don’t know what is.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is one of those games that comes along and you simply must play. It should be considered as one of the best games of the year and may eventually rank as one of the top classics. Since this is so much more of a console/game pad type game, I would give serious thought to the Xbox/PS2/GC version, just to avoid the control issues, but there is so much to like, all platforms are great options to play Prince of Persia. Just play it!

Prince of Persia: Sands of time is the adventure game that doesn’t get bogged down by too many genre clichés and the platformer that plays more like an adventure game. The wide appeal and brilliant execution of the title makes this game a must own.

When the original Prince of Persia hit the PC scene over a decade ago, it revolutionized the 2D action-platforming genre with deep gameplay and groundbreaking graphics. Now, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is looking for a repeat in the 3D arena, and for the most part succeeds. Developed by the same team responsible for Splinter Cell, Sands of Time features some excellent gameplay elements, fantastic graphics and innovative features that go beyond gimmicks to being revolutionary in their own right. It can safely be said that Prince of Persia is one of the best games of the year.

This game just brings a lot of fun factor to anyone that wants to pick it up and play. Unlike Knights of the Old Republic you don't have to be a fan of the series or into deep RPGs in order to play Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (same goes for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker). The comparisons to ICO are striking, but this is simply the better game between the two...that's something I never thought I would say. If you can only get one game before Thanksgiving or for Christmas, make this the one even if you have a Playstation 2 or GameCube. UbiSoft Montreal and Jordan Mechner should be proud of their accomplishments. They have brought a classic series to the 3D world almost seamlessly. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is just a fantastic game and you will enjoy it. Will this turn out to be the Game of the Year? We shall see...there's still a lot of good games on the horizon.

There is so much more that can be talked about with this game, but I don’t want to spoil it. The graphics and the sound alone are enough to rack this one up as a must-buy. It’s the gameplay that will keep you playing. Throughout the course of this write-up, all I could think about was how badly I wanted to play Prince of Persia again. I hope by the time this is over, you are asking yourself “Golly-gee willakers! Is it really THAT good?” The answer is most certainly and without a doubt “YES!” Honestly, if you don’t have it already, do yourself a favor and go pick it up. If it’s not THE game of the year, it’s certainly tied for first.

We must have uttered this single word to ourselves on 100 different occasions during the time we spent playing through Ubi Soft's masterful new action-adventure, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Every once in awhile, a game comes along that you can't miss out on. The Sands of Time is one of those games. The story is completely satisfying, the graphics are amazing, the gameplay and sound are near perfect, and the atmosphere is like no other. Sure, the game has a couple flaws, but it's nothing that you can't look forward to in the next installment of PoP. Some people may not choose to buy it due to its short gameplay time, but these people should at least rent the game to play through it. For people like myself that like to build a good collection of solid titles, this is a must-have.

The presentation is also stellar, with dramatic camera angles and incredibly entertaining vocal performances that enhance the experience a hundredfold. Though the length of the game may rouse the senses of some naysayers, the game itself and the features that can be unlocked are completely worthwhile. The only real problem I had was with the sound and even then it wasn't something that irritated me to any great degree. In the end, Ubisoft managed to capture the essence of what the original Prince of Persia was all about and this game is a true gem and one experience that simply cannot be missed. This is the game for 2003, no doubt about that.

By all accounts, I should not like Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Although I love platformers to death, I despise overly complicated jumping puzzles and bottomless pits. Hell, I don't think I've even met anyone who likes those things. Yet, these are the core gameplay elements that make up PoP and I could really care less. Odd how things work out, huh? Highly recommended.

I should be disappointed in Prince of Persia's length, really, because I never used to think games that gave you less than at least 10-15 hours of fun warranted that $50 price tag. Instead, when I look back on my experience with the game, I get all warm and fuzzy – the same warm fuzzies I get when thinking back on the first time I played a Prince of Persia game. For me, that feeling is worth every penny.

I haven't played a game as good as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in a very long time. If the plot were better realized and there had been a memorable, threatening villain, I would describe it as perfect, the way I describe ICO. Even with its minor flaws, this is the best action game around, and gets my vote for the best game of the year.

The gameplay is solid and innovative. It is graphically stunning. The music, while muted, compliments the rest of the game design. The use of the rewind button is clever and implemented well into a game that would otherwise be frustrating. All of these parts added together leave the gamer with a game of truly high adventure. There is substance backing this game's overflow of style, which in today's saturated adventure game market, makes this title stand out. If you own multiple platforms, I would recommend trying it out before settling on one. If you only have a Gamecube then you simply must add this one to your library as it is that good. POP deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence as Wind Waker and Metroid Prime.

This game is worth your time and attention. Once again props go out to Ubisoft Montreal for meshing environments with an outstanding control scheme and stunning graphics. With The Sands of Time, Ubisoft is hoping for the ultimate old-school update – a marker for other companies looking to resurrect old franchises. I think it has done the job perfectly, but that includes some of the faults that Jordan Mechner’s original creations also had. For me, the PoP games were frustrating beyond belief – but I was always compelled to continue in the journey. The Sands of Time plays the same way for me. Going through the platforming sections is an act of precise execution, and some of the combat-oriented rooms required a massive amount of retries on my part. I don’t mean to say that this level of difficulty is bad, because it actually inspired me to get to the next level more than an easier action title would have.

Bless you, Jordan Mechner You single-handedly managed to revitalize the action platformer genre with your puzzle-ridden romp through Eastern kingdoms. Personally, I look back with fondness on Prince of Persia: It was one of the games that I constantly played on lunch breaks or free periods in school. It was also one of the titles that taught me a lot of the backdoors of the Windows file structure, as my friends and I constantly hid playable copies in our network accounts from the watchful eyes of the computer lab staff. Unfortunately, only two sequels followed within 5 years, leaving fans of the swashbuckling adventure series hanging without their Persian fix. Now, 10 years later, Mechner's series returns with a vengeance to next-generation systems and computers with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

2003 was a great year for Ubisoft. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was just one example of their successes. How does our nameless royal hero stack up against the other giants Ubisoft created? Let's just say that this game won't be left in the sands. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is a next part of the Prince of Persia series, the nearly famous series that started in the 16-bit era. The series eventually saw Prince of Persia 3D, which really stunk. However, this game finally gives “honor and glory"? back to the series. In the original Prince of Persia game, you had to avoid traps and fight evil soldiers, all while saving the beautiful princess. In Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, the main objective is to avoid traps and to fight evil sand creatures, while saving the beautiful princess Farah. PoP is a nearly perfect 3D translation of the 2D classic.

Prince of Persia The Sands of Time has met every single hope that I had for it, and then exceeded those expectations by a long way. Overall, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is an exceptional work of art from beginning to end, which should take most gamers a paltry 10 hours. There is also plenty of unlockable goodies and extra features for those who have the gumption. A single level from the original Prince of Persia rendered in all the three-dimensional beauty of the rest of the game, a behind-the-scenes making-of featurette, and the entirety of the original Prince of Persia in emulated form, recreated perfectly - are all included for your gaming pleasure. Everything about The Sands of Time comes together exquisitely: control, art direction, graphics, sound - this game is really a testament to what can be done with an aged franchise when infused with a little bit of originality and a lot of ingenuity.

Let's just say that this game won't be left in the sands. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is a next part of the Prince of Persia series, the nearly famous series that started in the 16-bit era. The series eventually saw Prince of Persia 3D, which really stunk. However, this game finally gives “honor and glory" back to the series.

Still, I recommend Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time as a must buy. Prince of Persia has blown me away, and it will blow you away too. If you own a GameCube, you need to own Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

On the GameCube version, you could unlock the original Prince of Persia and there is an interesting “making of feature. I found the original Prince of Persia fun, but I actually found the mini-documentary even better. This game was very well done, to say the least. With superb gameplay aided with very interesting storyline, you probably won’t stop until you see the ending. This game will probably be even better if you liked (or loved) the original Prince of Persia. If you can forget about the annoying battles, you will enjoy this near perfect title.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to kontynuacja hitu sprzed lat, nie ustępująca mu ani trochę, a może nawet lepsza od pierwowzoru. Tytuł przełomowy, dopracowany do granic możliwości.

The Gamecube version is here. I've been keeping with Prince of Persia's development for a while now since the game looked great. I had the chance to play through the handheld game recently, and it was quite good. I had high expectations for the console editions, and luckily, they have been fulfilled.

I hate to sound like just another voice in the chorus of praise for Ubisoft’s latest game, but there’s just no other way to sing it. This is one of the finest 3rd-person adventures you will experience and it is a welcome addition to the Prince of Persia lineage.

There is no question that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has what it takes in terms of gameplay, graphics, and audio to be one of the top five Xbox titles ever. Only the sands of time will tell if it has a theme interesting enough for people to justify a purchase. I mentioned in my opening that the lack of interest I had in Middle Eastern culture and my fascination with Far-Eastern culture made me pass over the original PoP. I hope the tabi-shoe owning gamers out there will have more sense than I did back then and give this one a try. If they don’t, they will possibly be missing the best game they have ever played on the Xbox.

Sands of Time is aptly named since this title is going to go down in history as one of gaming’s crowning achievements. Much like the original game is still held in high regard, expect to be hearing this title mentioned 15 years from now, as Prince of Persia is the new reigning king and the new benchmark whereby all other games will be measured.

Let’s see: what’s so great about Prince of Persia: The Sands of time? Well, you’ve got the excellent gameplay which makes me really excited just talking about it. Don’t forget the remarkable environment, which allows you to do the most groundbreaking moves. The graphics are unbelievable, especially by PS2 standards. Combined with the music, Ubi Soft created a perfect fairytale. Like I said, the atmosphere is just unbelievable. You don’t see that every day, I can assure you that. Are there no disadvantages then? Of course there are. The perfect game is still to be made you know. The game is far too short. In about eight or ten hours, you will have seen all the castles and dungeons. Then again, these ten hours will give you one heck of an experience. I suggest to run to a nearby store and just buy that game. It’s worth the money.

To put it simply, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is one very solid game. Not only does it carry on the Prince of Persia name with dignity and respect, but it also elaborates on many aspects of the series. Bringing the Prince of Persia franchise to today’s current consoles not only provides younger players a chance to play a great series, but also gives older fans a chance to relive their childhood memories, all via today’s robust technology. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is one of the best games currently available for the GameCube, and also one of the best games released in the past few years, period. The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is an excellent adventure well worth undertaking. In a sea of unoriginality it is a bastion of ingenuity that will beckon gamers back time and again despite a slight blemish or two on its otherwise smooth exterior. Previous experience with the series is not necessary at all, since the story is not connected to the other games at all, other than sharing a Prince as the protagonist. No matter what genre is your bag, you should enjoy this one and it is highly recommended.

Few games live up to hype that can be best classified as instantaneous, but Prince of Persia: Sands of Time manages to do so, for the most part. While I really don’t think it’s game of the year quality (that would go to a certain High Summoner’s latest adventure), it is a brilliant game that is well worth $50 bucks and round out that PlayStation 2 library. While the fighting aspect leaves something to be desired, everything else is excellent and playable, and that’s really all you can ask for in a video game. It’s fun, and it’s infinitely playable. In that regard, The Sands of Time is a successful release, and props to Ubisoft for bringing this franchise into the 21st century in style.

The game is at its best when it poses an apparently impossible physical challenge, such as finding a path from the top of a ruined tower to the bottom. Combat is not its strong suit: Too many scenes just throw dozens of enemies at you one after another and won’t let you proceed till you boat them all. The occasional Myst-style machinery manipulation puzzles don’t add much, either. But all is forgiven when you find yourself swinging gymnastically from flagpole to flagpole or running up the side of a wall and leaping, at the last instant, onto the side of a shattered column. You’d think we’d have become jaded over the past 15 years, that after all the well-animated action games we’ve played, playing yet another wouldn’t affect us much. But you’d be wrong. The Sands of Time is not particularly innovative technically, and the PC version in particular has flaws—but Jordan Mechner still has the magic touch.

Some marathon brawls throw 25 or 30 enemies at you in an increasingly exhausting endurance challenge. Although the re-spawning stops once the fight is won, it’s a rare lapse of judgement, and makes for some nasty difficult spikes that are at odds with the flow of the rest of the game. But the rest of the game cannot be commended highly enough. The second best platform game of all time? In Prince of Persia, that’s just for starters.

Although it hasn't always enjoyed sales to match, Ubisoft's Christmas 2003 line-up has been the strongest of any publisher - with games like XIII, Rainbow Six III and Beyond Good & Evil worthy of all manner of superlatives - but in the end it's Prince of Persia which stands tallest, and Crystal Dynamics had better take serious note if they aim to resurrect the Tomb Raider franchise in 2005. If there's one final thing that deserves a moment's consideration, it's that Ubisoft's peerless achievement is marred by a rather slight runtime of between seven and ten hours (in fact, having finished it on the PS2 earlier this month, this PC version took just five), but like ICO, it's a game that will live long in the memory, and needs to be played from time to time just to refresh the senses and reinvigorate the gamer inside us all. There's very little distance between this and a top score, and it's done more for Ubisoft Montreal's reputation than a dozen Splinter Cells.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time öppnar för nytt tänkande.

You thought Zelda was hard? These guys don't know the meaning of the words, "I'm hit! I'm gonna die! Someone help me, I'm hit!" They take quite a bit to take down, but don't worry, the rest of the game is fun, though hard as rock.

As little as there is wrong with this game I must warn you it is very short. Most people will be able to beat this in under12 hours and veteran gamers can probably do it in under 9 with ease. The original Prince of Persia and Prince of Persia 2 are unlockable, but most likely only hardcore gamers will give these titles the time of day. They also included a segment on the making of the game that I was really excited about until I saw how short it was. Most games don't even include something like, but hopefully others will follow this lead and really show gamers what goes into making great games. This game could have been perfect if only it were longer, but as it stands I would still recommend that everyone give Prince of Persia a well deserved look.

Prince of Persia is what platforming titles have been trying to do for years, but repeatedly failing at. It harkens back to the days of 2D platformers when it was all about getting through the levels alive, as opposed to wandering aimlessly looking for items you needed to collect. Prince of Persia makes no effort to fuse itself with other genres in the way that other platforming titles have done, instead working to perfect the very things that make action platformers so enjoyable. Bravo, Ubi Soft. Bravo.

The graphics are lovely and the controls are superb, fitting the style of gameplay perfectly. Ubi Soft promised to bring the franchise back to glory and redefine the genre and they have done just that and more. If you were to combine elements of Tomb Raider with a watered down Ico and add in a revolutionary game engine you'd get this (although I'm not suggesting that's what the developers did!) Sands of Time is an amazing title that is easily one of the best third person action games I have ever had the pleasure to play; the story is gripping, the ending is brilliant and, most importantly, the gameplay is top notch. The only thing stopping it from scoring a solid 10 is the sometimes too linear gameplay and fleetingly fast nature of the experience. Sands would have benefited from a few bright and spectacularly different levels to excite our spirits as we push past wondrous obstacles and the lonely darkness that paints mostly everything. But again, even this 'weakness' is a testament to a mood and a realism arrived at properly: after all, we do represent but one man against legions of unfeeling undead, and the much more overwhelming reality of the uncaring world standing unyieldingly in our path. While not perfect, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time offers a poignant, uncommon challenge. Its world awaits, rich, wondrous, indomitable. Will you overcome it?

Vaguely reminiscent of the wonderful Ico, PoP serves up a visually stunning platform adventure with moments of utter gaming delight, but the too-frequent, lengthy and taxing sword fights detract rather than add to the game. Sometimes you'll find the Prince surrounded by four massive, vicious enemies who take it in turns to pound on him, and the dagger can't always save you - should you get the Prince killed (and you will) he says "No-no-no, that isn't what happened" as you reload (another nice touch). But there's always a genuine feeling of progression; more cheery sun-drenched outdoor sections usually follow dark dungeon levels, and the mixture in atmosphere is perfect - but despite a sepia "vision" preview of the level ahead, you'll sometimes feel stumped, baffled and clueless, and the swordfights with the innumerable enemies will tax your patience to the limit - but cleverly never quite go beyond. A fabulous-looking game that plays as good as it looks.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is by far the best platformer this year. Period. End of discussion. If you disagree, you’re wrong. Sands of Time embodies everything the Prince is and should have been in previous games, and is the best of the series. Combining a strong combat system, smooth graphics, and wonderful dexterity puzzles, Prince of Persia should be in everyone’s library. But Prince of Persia the Sands of Time ain't just a pretty face - there's a heck of an adventure involved too!

Just as BG&E (also from Ubi Soft) gave you a 'side-kick' for your quest, there is also someone to help you along in Prince of Persia. Named Farah she is a survivor of your unintended mass 'turn everyone into zombies spree' and needless to say is a bit annoyed about the whole situation. Bizarrely, she opts to help you out on your adventure and is certainly of use in some situations. She also helps to bring more of a plot to the title. It all moves along thanks to conversations dotted about the games profession that slowly feed you information and very in-depth background to just what has been going on.

No previous experience with the Prince of Persia series is required to enjoy Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. In fact, virtually nothing will bar you from being impressed by this extremely well-put-together action adventure game from the studio that brought you Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six 3. In stark contrast to Ubisoft Montreal's previous offerings, Prince of Persia is surprisingly easy, despite the incredible acts of skill and daring that the game's main character will routinely perform during the course of the game. As a result, this original, visually stunning game can be highly recommended to just about anyone.

To be honest, I never expected to see another major Prince of Persia game released, much less a good one. But here we are in the tail end of 2003 and that's exactly what we're faced with. While the combat's a bit bland and the challenge could stand to be higher, the fact remains that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a wonderful rebirth of a classic franchise. To answer the obvious headline, this prince is no pauper.

In terms of third-person games, Prince of Persia is like first class air travel. You pay quite a lot for the privilege of eight hours' comfort at high altitudes, you have a merry old time sampling all the little luxuries and extravagances kept out of your reach in the rough and ready confines of economy, and although by the end of the journey you're still fairly content to depart the plane, remonstrating with yourself that it was a very expensive way to fly, given the choice it's a touch of class you'd certainly never be without. In other words, if the inconsistencies of titles like Spider-Man: The Movie, Legacy Of Kain and Tomb Raider left you with the gaming equivalent of deep vein thrombosis, Prince of Persia is like a gentle massage set to the peeling tones of a 72-virgin orchestra. It's spectacular and soothing to play.

Mein Rat an alle: Kaufen!

Overall, this game is not something to forget or skip out on. If you enjoy beautiful, fluid, entertaining adventures, then this is your chance to take part in one. In a world of rapidly growing 3D gaming, not a lot of careful detail and originality is taken into consideration with the gaming industry's strict deadlines. This is a carefully made work of art and should serve as an example to other titles for its near flawless gameplay. Prince of Persia will be remembered for years to come.

So overall, should you still buy this game considering that the sequel is coming soon? I think you should more ask yourself if you are willing to pass on one of the best game experiences of this generation or not. It doesn't cost much and even though it doesn't last more than 6 to 10 hours, the puzzles are so well done and this game looks so good that you'll want to go through it at least one more time when you are done with the main quest. There is also the original Prince of Persia available as an unlockable for the more nostalgic gamers. Go buy it, it's worth your money and you'll be more trained for the sequel!

The console versions of Prince of Persia offer some bonuses, in addition to the main adventure, of which the most notable is the inclusion of an unlockable port of the original version of the game that started it all. Unfortunately, for some reason, these bonuses have been omitted from the PC version (which retails for less, as if in exchange). Still, perhaps you remember the original Prince of Persia, which influenced games like Tomb Raider and pretty much every other game in which you can grab on to ledges. The original game presents a stark contrast with the new installment of the series in just how punishing it was. On the other hand, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a game that can be recommended wholeheartedly. It looks fantastic and features responsive controls, some original play mechanics, a good story, and plenty of thrilling adventure. In the simplest terms: Do not miss out on this game.

Platformers of this quality are quite rare on the PC and, indeed, on most of the other consoles. This is even more surprising given the number of lackluster "remakes" we've seen lately. Too often the charm of a 15-year-old game fails to survive the update required to bring it up to speed with today's technology and design concepts. (Please, Pirates!, don't suck!) But with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Ubi Soft Montreal has captured everything we loved about the first game without sacrificing the kinds of things we expect from games these days.

Is this a game you should own? I would say that it is one of the finest action games I’ve ever played, although the ending was a bit anticlimactic. It’s not too short, but also doesn’t go long enough to wear out its welcome, so to speak. Most players will probably finish it in 13 hours or so. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is definitely worth at least a rental, if not a purchase, for those who like adventure games.

All in all, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a classic example of when the sum is greater than its parts. The enchanting, soft and glossy graphics will draw you in; the spot-on controls and level design come together with what's one of the best-integrated and most sophisticated storylines I've ever seen in a game, and will keep you there, stuck like a genie in a bottle. If you're willing to look past the slightly linear and repetitive gameplay, you have one of this year's most fulfilling action-adventure titles to look forward to.

In spite of these high-level issues I'm not particularly fond of, Ubisoft's release remains an exemplary achievement in many ways, and is without a doubt one of the finest games of its kind. The level of production has rarely been matched, and it contains a sense of style and spirit that cannot be denied—delicious frosting atop the cake of astounding aesthetics and virtuoso control mechanics. In short, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time takes Jordan Mechner's framework and amplifies it to the Nth degree for what can only be described as a joy to play.

But don?t let these little problems discourage you. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is still plenty of fun. Prince of Persia to przemyślana i dopracowana przygoda.

I enjoyed my time with Sands of Time; the atmosphere, puzzles, and overall design was very well done, but it was never enough to hold my interest for long periods of play - some more variety in the fighting system wouldn't have hurt, though. Not compelling me to play for a long time might have been a good thing, because the game is less than 10 hours long. It's a definite rental, if anything else.

At such moments, your enemies may well overwhelm you once and for all, forcing you either to head back to the last save point or to find yourself caught in a tedious loop of small rewinds that never really get you anywhere. As much as I liked the game, the occasionally-tedious combat impacted my enjoyment more negatively than I care to admit. In fact, scratch that last comment. I-- oh, crap! I'm out of sand.

One title almost guaranteed to bring a tear to the eye of any older gamer when mentioned is Prince of Persia. Originally released in the 16-bit machine era, it was a tight combination of puzzles, traps, frequent death and fighting, all against a time limit. It is also remembered for the fact that the two subsequent sequels were never quite in the same league. Now Jordan Mechner, along with the talents Ubisoft have at their disposal, has brought the franchise back to the life on the latest console platforms.

Still, the game is, at its core, a Prince of Persia sequel - and if you're at all familiar with the original series, you know what that means - frustration, fencing, frustration, jumping puzzles, frustration, and lots of fun. But don't be discouraged. If you can get past the shoddy camera controls and precision jumping techniques, you'll be rewarded with a game that makes you feel that a man really can walk on walls (although I feel I may need to warn some of our readers that this is just a game and people really can't do those things. If you try to scurry across a vertical wall at breakneck speeds and crack your spine, we here at ActionTrip are in no way responsible for your stupidity.

Gamers who only got into the hobby recently and are only familiar with the nastiness of the recent Prince of Persia 3D might be puzzled about why many old school gamers like myself are so excited at the revival of the Prince of Persia franchise. Suffice it to say that our love stems from the memories of the first two Prince of Persia games - brilliant combinations of side-scrolling action and puzzle solving that quickly became classics. Still, whether you're an old fogey like me or a young kid just starting up in the gaming world, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time belongs in your collection. Ubisoft has helped the Prince make the transition to the 21st century in grand style.

Right from the intro video you begin to see how much time was put into this game. The tale begins in a Middle Eastern setting; you are the Prince of the great King of Persia. Greed and power has overcome your father, as you seen in the video, and your father has prepared an army to attack an Indian city. When the game starts the character you play wants to please his father by fighting like a warrior in battle. Your character then has a better idea: To find the treasure of the Maharaja (I don’t know if that spelling is correct), and be the first one there.

The Sands of Time is a great-looking PS2 game, with good character models and beautiful environments. However, the one flaw in this gem is its framerate, which can bog down in moderately busy melees. It's hardly a game breaker, but the sometimes inconsistent framerate of the PS2 version makes me give the nod to the Xbox version, which does a better job of floating in the neighborhood of 30 frames per second. The Xbox game also wins in the bonuses category; the PS2 game includes an unlockable version of the first Prince of Persia, but the Xbox version features PoP2, a making-of featurette and Xbox Live awareness. In any case, if you only have a PS2, then the PS2 version will do fine. But if you have both, then Xbox is the way to go.

That said, I did find myself coming back to POPSOT again and again, for it does most of the gaming basics rather well – it mixes a decent storyline with relatively simple gameplay, breathtaking visuals, and good sound effects. While it is not particularly long and does not have too much replay value, it keeps one entranced while one is playing it. A bit like The Matrix, really. The film, not the game!

Playing Tomb Raider or DareDevil or any other game with this many moves being pulled off so easily and so beautifully would be a blessing and be about time. There are so many things that are combined to make this game as good as it is such as the storyline, voice acting, animation and the final ending scene is the cherry on top. Throw in the two original Prince of Persia games that are available (one by finishing the game and the other by unlocking it) and the Xbox live online ability to download future content, Sands of time is a must have for anyone's game collection.

The controls are exceptionally forgiving, especially with the "time rewind" feature that lets you repeat ill fated leaps. Ubisoft clearly employs competent programmers, but their efforts are largely wasted with this. On a final note, I've noticed that certain magazine editors have been critical of the gaming public for the tepid sales of this game and it successor. I think that just validates this review.
