Army Men: Air Attack 2

I've always been a fan of the Army Men series, and it pained me to see the first two offerings had no love behind them. Luckily, Army Men Air Attack 2 shows exactly what love has to do with it. If you're a fan of the series, this is a must buy. If not, try it anyway, it's a sure fire blast.

While the other Air Attack games for the PlayStation and N64 barely took off, the much-improved PS2 version flies mighty high with spectacular visuals and improved gameplay. You seek and destroy enemy factories, and rescue captured comrades in eye-popping environments like a flower bed and a Halloween theme world. If you're looking for action-packed combat shooting in the skies?plastic style?sign up for a tour of duty with Air Attack 2. You won't be disappointed.

Air Attack is reminiscent of Soviet and Nuclear Strike for the Playstation and PC, and is recommended for fans of either series. For all the Army Men fans out there, you both need to get this game. As for the rest of you, this is a great rental. Although it is has good graphics and decent gameplay, I doubt you would be happy slappin' down 50 clams for it.

Air Attack 2 is a major disappointment, not because it is an exceptionally bad game, but because it had the potential to be an exceptionally great game. The game lacks refinement, and given more time, the developers could've hammered out its graphical problems. As it is, Air Attack 2 stands as the Army Men game that could've been.

While there are worse games out there, and far worse Army Men games at that, this title just doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from the pack. This is an enhanced PlayStation game, through and through, and does not in any way fulfill the supposed promises of a new generation.

Air Attack 2 absolutely festers. The winch is fun for 13.4 seconds, but after that I'd rather do deep knee bends in front of Richard Simmons. The only way I'd suggest playing this is if you've only got a few months to live. That way, your remaining time on this planet will seem like an eternity, albeit eternity in Hell.

Are you feeling the groove? More importantly, are you feeling the love? You must be. I suggest turning down the volume while you play Air Attack 2, and turning up Air Supply’s watershed song, Even The Nights Are Better. Both the game and the group are at the pinnacle of their particular genres. Air Supply is all the rage down in Mexico, as I’m sure you know. The power-packed combination of Russell and Hitchcock with their silky smooth guitar riffs and indomitably clever lyrics are not to be denied. Similarly, Air Attack 2’s combination of the strafe command and unlimited machine gun ammo is sure to make a believer out of even the hardest of the hardcore gamers.
