In our opinion if you have no knowledge of the game’s mange heritage then Blood Will Tell is a slightly above average third person action/adventure title. Although you’ll initially go at the demons and fiends with your twin arm strapped swords like a samurai possessed, but after a while you’ll start to become preoccupied with the story itself and we found ourselves dodging the enemies just so could reach the next stage of the game that little bit quicker.

Nitpicks aside, Blood Will Tell is one of Sega's best games of the year. Its long quest guarantees that you'll leave behind you a disgusting pile of demonic carcasses, and the collection system goes far beyond locating body parts (because there are swords and other items to collect as well). It's a bloody good time, and an experience best played at night. If you've been craving an old school Japanese adventure, Blood Will Tell is a must buy.

Although it's certainly nothing new, Blood Will Tell should appeal to anyone with a passing interest in manga or the hack 'n' slash genre. The combat is solid, the visuals likeable, and the storyline engaging, making it feel like predictability done right for once.

This is a game that I enjoyed very much, despite the terrible main camera and the average graphics, the charms of story and the uniqueness of the characters make it a different game from most on the market. It can get a little repetitive early on, and you are doing the same thing throughout, battling one boss to get a body part, but once you gain some new abilities the game can change considerably for the better. If the camera was better and the graphics improved, then I would have no worries about recommending this to people. If you are a fan of Japanese anime, then I am sure you will enjoy this game, fans of hack and slash will find something here to occupy them. Adding in the little RPG elements as well and you have a game full of diversity, something that is not common in games nowadays.

Wäre Blood will tell einige Jahre früher erschienen wäre vielleicht sogar ein Hit-Prädikat drin gewesen.

Osamu Tezuka's storyline alone makes Blood Will Tell worth playing, and while the game has its fair share of problems, none of them are so severe that they should dissuade you from checking the game out if you have any sort of interest in the subject matter.

Blood Will Tell is one frustrating game, on one hand you have one of the most original and captivating stories in years along with some superb cut scenes, then on the other you have the incredibly repetitive battles and poor camera angles to deal with. A game with such a good story really deserved to have more time put into the gameplay. If you really like this style of game it would be a good pickup as it is quite a long game. Finding all 48 fiends will take some time and there is a bonus chapter upon completion pushing playing time to over 20 hours. With a little more effort this game could have been an absolute gem. As it is however it simply can not be recommended with the likes of Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening on the way. Blood Will Tell is good but it could have been so much better.

None the less, Blood Will Tell is a lot more intricate than at first appears. It may be something of an ugly duckling, and it's depressingly likely that it'll sink without trace as a result, but after a few stumbling steps it soon becomes apparent that Hyakkimaru's journey to find the sum of his parts is indeed greater than the sum of the game's. If you like slashing and hording within intelligently structured worlds and have no problem sinking into the non-conformity of Japanese manga, then Blood Will Tell may well surprise you.

If everything is so average, then why did I give Blood Will Tell the extra half-star? Well, it's got a damn fine story. You'll root for Hyakkimaru to get vengeance and enlighten the world, you'll despair when those he helps are ungrateful SOBs, and you'll thrill to the top-grade tales that accompany the individual levels (bloodthirsty swords, Fiends in sheep's' clothing, etc.). With no major flaws, you should be moved to play through the game's entirety. It's got a healthy dose of RPG elements to boot. Playing Blood Will Tell may not make you whole, but it just might make you happy.

Thunderbolt Games
Blood Will Tell has a few things going for it. It’s got a wonderfully dark an original story, which is complemented with dynamic (if not slightly cliched) characters. The gameplay is straightforward and to the point; fans of action games will have their hands full with small armies of ghouls and 48 bosses to defeat. On the other hand, the combat is incredibly shallow and the game has little difficulty to speak of. The novelty of controlling a bionic samurai will start to wear off once you’ve gotten far enough into the game to realize that this game has enough flaws to bring it down from greatness. But hey, at least Hyakkimaru and Dodoro are interesting enough to warrant the game’s completion. Besides, the guy has two swords and a machine gun built into his arms. That’s got to count for something.

Blood Will Tell doesn’t exactly set the world on fire with innovation or unique features, but on the other hand it doesn’t do anything particularly bad or wrong either (except the aforementioned camera and loading gripes). It’s a solid and thoroughly enjoyable action adventure game, and there is enough here to keep fans of the genre interested to the end.

Gamer Within
Blood Will Tell is definitely a unique game in its own rights, providing a change from the usual Japanese samurai spree, requiring you to save a village or defeat an ultimate master. Hyakkimaru is one of the most unique characters that I have witnessed in some time. The game is rather slow for the first hour or two, which will likely lose the interest of many gamers. If you manage to stick by the game for some time, however, you will find that it is a solid title that offers a some decent gameplay, although plagued with numerous annoying problems that spoils an otherwise enjoyable experience. Blood Will Tell is only a decent title if you find Japanese myths and legends interesting.

Yet you’ll manage to see this game to the end, thanks to the intriguing story, white-knuckle boss fights (where your diverse set of moves really comes into play), and inclusion of spunky sidekick Dororo, a child who fights alongside Hyakkimaru and can sneak into places where the main hero cannot. These elements help alleviate the mundane aspects of normal combat, making Blood Will Tell a cut above your average jilted-samurai-seeks-revenge-against-the-demonic-hordes-who-wronged-him game.

Despite all my negativity towards the game, it really isn't that bad. It just isn't that good either. If you see it in the good ol' bargain bins then by all means give it a go, just don't expect your world to change as a result. It really is the epitome of mediocrity, and with such a great story it's a real shame.

I feel that the negative points I have mentioned so far are both fair and analytical, however my main complaint is less tangible. I just didn't have any fun playing this game. Honestly, I hated every second of it. I'm not know for my temper when gaming, but several times while playing Blood Will Tell I literally threw my controller across my desk in disgust. Frustrating and boring, Blood Will Tell is one of the least fun games I've ever played. Maybe fans of the manga will like it, but I doubt it.
