What seemed like a dull game in the first minutes, turned into a pretty nice adventure, that, although it has many flaws, can keep a gamer satisfied and glued to the TV screen for at least 4 hours, the length of the story mode. Jack Sparrow's insanely fun spirit is present in the game and that's enough to sell any media product, isn't it? Sadly the movie trilogy ends here, but maybe one day we'll get the chance to see a proper gaming version of such blockbusters.

In the end, the Pirates 3 game comes out being the best of the movie-game trilogies, but that isn't saying much. Where as Shrek the Third and Spider-Man 3 were downright bad, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is bordering on the edge of mediocrity. With a bit more polish, and a slightly more engaging experience, this could've gone down as being one of the best movie-games in a long time. Unfortunately, At World's End cannot pull through on the strength of its pretty visuals and nice audio alone. There simply isn't much to see that's worth the $40 ticket. If you're really curious, rent it first.
Gamer 2.0 (Jun 15, 2007)
Ultimately, between the short campaign and the rather bland combat, Pirates doesn’t do a lot to separate itself from the heap of other action games just like it. But for some reason, maybe the score, the graphics, and the subject matter pull it together for a rather entertaining rental-like play through. It’s a recommendable game to fans of the movies, but beyond that its reach really won’t extend any further. Don’t be afraid to check it out, but really, unless you’re a die-hard fan, don’t buy it.

When it's all said and done, At World's End is a very by-the-book approach to a movie-based game. It has, and lets you play as, all the characters you'd want to play; it doesn't deviate from the movies' plots too much; and it takes you to many of the locations you see in the films. While those are good things, the game really would have benefited by taking some risks. The biggest problem is that you're playing as a cool character in an exotic location, but you're not doing anything interesting, just running around picking up items and hitting the attack button endlessly. Even if you're a huge fan of the Pirates trilogy, you'll probably want to pass on At World's End, especially the Wii version due to its terrible control scheme.

Overall, PotC: At World’s End for the PS2 has a lot of unlockable content to earn and play around with, but it’s just not a good game. If you want lots of bonus items, objectives and sub-missions, try The Warriors. If you want lots of fighting and action, with killer combos, try Dynasty Warriors. But for the love of your wallet’s $40, don’t bother with this game at all. Sadly, it’s not even rent-worthy.

Sorry about that, I don't know what came over me. Now that I've calmed down, I realize that I can't stay mad at people for buying this game - if they love the Pirates movies, they'll try the game, not knowing what hell they're setting themselves up for. And I guess I can forgive that. So if you're reading this review and still want to go buy the game, then go ahead, with my blessings. I can't promise you a great time, but you might get something out of it (exactly what god knows). Just promise me you'll at least try not to buy the game at full price - for that truly is piracy - and I'll promise to keep your dirty secret for 3 days. That ought be long enough to drive you back to the store, whimpering, to return it.

Overall, though, if you really want to see Cap’n Jack Sparrow and crew, you do better going to your local movie theater. Otherwise Pirates of the Caribbean for the PlayStation 2, will do nothing more than put a hole in your wallet that you’ll soon quickly regret.
