Own a PS2, and chances are you’ll have a copy of Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty as a highlight of your game library. Universally considered by most gamers to be a masterpiece, Konami’s action game set new standards, ones that have yet to be reached or surpassed. With fans of the venerable series eagerly awaiting the next chapter of Snake’s adventures, Hideo Kojima and his team have worked on providing two early holiday presents to gamers everywhere.

The first thing you need to know about The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2 is that it is NOT a game, but rather an interactive documentary for that game. If Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty was a movie (and many gamers and reviewers swear it is) then this would be the DVD supplemental material that you would expect on the special edition.

If you asked someone in 1996 what a Solid Snake was, they'd probably think it's a bathroom-related slang term. If you asked someone in 1998 what a Solid Snake was, they'd probably simply reply, "Well sir, he happens to be one of the greatest videogame characters God has ever crafted." Amazing what two years can do. Solid Snake actually debuted in the Metal Gear series over 15 years ago. Over time, the series became as forgotten as those zany Dizzy games on the NES. In 1998, the hugely hyped Metal Gear Solid was released on the Playstation.
