The Ghosts of Project Zero 3: The TormentedOne of the big differences between Project Zero 3: The Tormented and other horror games is that your opponents in this game are ghosts. These spectral apparitions have no solid physical form, which means that you never know where and when they might appear, making for a truly nerve-jangling gameplay experience. Half-glimpses out of the corner of your eye, a sudden movement, a strange noise behind you – Project Zero 3's tense atmosphere will crank up your adrenaline levels with an unprecedented cast of terrifying spooks.
For this third instalment in the series, Tecmo's Project Zero team have evolved the ghosts to make your encounters with them the most frightening to date. Hideous facial expressions and creepy eye movements have been refined and ghosts will morph into even more scary apparitions before your very eyes, ramping up the fear so far that you'll think your heart is about to burst out of your chest.
Not all ghosts will attack, though. Some are passive, and there is hidden significance in the actions of many those that endlessly wander the halls of the 'House of Sleep'. They might reveal their secrets by the paths they follow and the rooms they enter. The words they speak and the written items they leave behind also contain a wealth of clues about the message they want to get across. Listening carefully to their messages will help you to figure out the best way to proceed.
Pictures of ghosts sighted throughout the game can be recorded for posterity in albums, and the filament on your enchanted 'Camera Obscura' glows brightly when something supernatural is nearby. Be ready with your shutter button though; if you're too slow, you'll miss the chance of creating a photographic record of many of these ghostly encounters forever.

Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. and Tecmo Ltd. Announce Project Zero 3™: The TormentedBattle Rei Kurosawa's Nightmares and Unravel the Sinister Mysteries of The 'House Of Sleep' In the Terrifying Third Instalment of the Critically Acclaimed Horror Series
Windsor, England – December 9th, 2005 – Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO) and Tecmo, Ltd. today announced a European publishing agreement for Project Zero 3™: The Tormented, developed by Tecmo for the PlayStation® 2 computer entertainment system. The game will be released on February 24th 2006.
Setting a new benchmark for psychological horror; Project Zero 3™: The Tormented immerses players in the tormented life of new character Rei Kurosawa, a cursed young woman tortured by guilt and plagued by dreams that blur the lines between reality and nightmares. Haunted by a vision of her dead fiancée, Rei is disturbed to discover a mysterious tattoo is spreading across her body. Where did it come from? What does it mean? Discovering the truth will take players on a nail-biting journey through one of the most terrifying video games ever created.
Further refining the gameplay that has already won over legions of fans of the series worldwide, Project Zero 3™: The Tormented features three playable characters, each with their own special abilities that need to be utilised to complete each nerve-jangling mission. The engrossing storyline and the increasingly disorientating flux between Rei's two states of reality - real life and nightmares - creates an unprecedented sense of uneasiness and fear. Evolved ghosts mean that the players' fight is more terrifying than ever, with spooks morphing into even more frightening shapes in front of their eyes.
Using the enchanted Camera Obscura to fight deadly ghosts and to solve the mystery of the tattoo, Rei must lift the curse that has befallen her. Assisting Rei is Kei Amakura, a young journalist who helps Rei piece together the puzzles contained in the haunted 'House of Sleep'. Players of the original Project Zero will also welcome the return of Miku as a playable character and revel in new insight into her personal story.
Commenting on the European publishing agreement, James Ellingford, International Managing Director of Take-Two Interactive Software said, "We are delighted to be working with Tecmo, a widely respected and influential game developer. I have no doubt that gamers across Europe will be as thrilled by Project Zero 3: The Tormented as we are."
