Iron Man

Iron Man is strictly about the suit. It’s almost like the video game was based entirely around the suit, with a few levels thrown in for good measure. In spite of the damage you’ll be taking for 90 percent of the game, it’s also too easy. Iron Man’s suit is a fun thing to play with through a rental. But unless you’re a diehard fan of the character, you’ll probably want to hold off on a purchase.

Dasselbe gilt für den neuesten Marvel-Vertreter: Segas 'Iron Man' krankt an einem unausgereiften Schwierigkeitsgrad, abwechslungsarmen Missionen und einer deutlich zu komplizierten Steuerung. Wer nicht im selben Millionärsclub wie Tony Stark ist, sollte sich eine Anschaffung besser zweimal überlegen.

Webster's New World College Dictionary Fourth Edition defines bland as "tasteless, insipid, dull, etc." I describe bland as "Iron Man." There's nothing horribly wrong with this game, but there's nothing to make you handover a fistful of dollars. The levels are linear, the visuals are ho-hum, the story is lame and the cutscenes are bad. This game doesn't excel at anything.

Halfhearted pretty much sums up this version of Iron Man. Enough effort was put into the gameplay and graphical design to keep it from crashing and burning, but not enough to inject it with any sort of life or appeal. Superheroes are meant to inspire you to do great things, but Iron Man will barely inspire you to finish the game.

I hesitate to say that Iron Man is dumbed down for the Wii, PlayStation 2, and PSP, since hardware limitations likely necessitated such a distinct iteration, but the resulting experience is a by-the-numbers affair unlikely to rouse most action fans. Maybe you won't toss your controller in a fit of rage (unlike the frustrating PS3/360 games), but with gameplay and presentation this uninteresting, do you even need pick it up to begin with?

Iron Man est un jeu dont le gameplay décevant ne mérite pas les efforts déployés pour le prendre en main. Visuellement rebutant, il propose en outre des missions inintéressantes au coeur d'environnements austères. Le fan absolu des super-héros Marvel aura déjà du mal à faire abstraction de ces nombreux défauts ; les autres sont purement et simplement invités à s'en tenir au film.
