Justice League Heroes is a surprisingly good game for such a worn out genre. The story mode is more in-depth than it has ever been before and the voice acting bypasses it's predecessor with ease and the character roster is staggeringly good. People looking for some brawling action and multiplayer fun might consider Marvel:Ultimate Alliance, however Justice League Heroes is a more considered package on a whole, especially for some good single-player fun.

It's been a long time coming, but if nothing else, Batman and Superman are finally in a good video game. After the travesties that were Superman 64, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, and the almost-there-but-not-quite Batman Begins, DC Comics' top poster boys can finally rest easy knowing that they both have at least one title under their belts that's great on its own merits, Justice League Heroes.

All in all, Heroes is a relatively simple game that, at times, feels like X-Men Legends with DC character models. Still, the chance to take control of some of the most beloved superheroes on the planet is one that you just can't pass up. The varied missions, awe-inspiring superpowers and the RPG-lite aspects combine to make Heroes an enjoyable superhero romp that finally brings a little respectability the digital DC Universe.

While it shares a lot of its components with Snowblind's past dungeon crawlers, Justice League Heroes has a pretty unique flavor. It flexes the strengths of the DC universe quite well. Although there's undoubtedly some bellyaching over stuff like the inclusion of Zatanna and the omission of Justice League anchors like Captain Marvel, there is a respect for the source material that should satisfy fans. The character customization gives you enough freedom in shaping the heroes without betraying the characters, and at about 10 hours, it's a healthy-sized adventure. The game does both the comic book and the dungeon-crawler parts well enough that it has the potential to turn fans of one into the other.

The Marvel Comics universe certainly does not have a shortage of superhero teams and while the X-Men stands out among the more powerful groups like The Avengers or the Fantastic Four, it is DC Comics’ Justice League that is the true force to be reckoned with since the roster does include the likes of Batman and Superman. Unfortunately, when it comes to games, Marvel beats out DC with games such as X-Men Legends and the recent Marvel Legends. Thankfully, we finally get a game featuring our favorite superhero team with Justice League Heroes but is this the game fans of the super team have been waiting for?

The sad truth is, despite it's excellent gameplay, its brevity combined with its $40 price tag make it hard to recommend Justice League Heroes to anyone but die-hard DC fans or those folks really dying for a two-player dungeon crawl. It's definitely a fun game while it lasts, and as a budget title it would be a lot more palatable, so keep your eyes peeled for when this one winds up in the $20 bin. Hopefully the inevitable sequel will have a bit more heft. And if there is a God who is not a superhero hater, it will totally feature a Blue Beetle and Mr. Miracle team. Man that would be sweet...

On the plus side, this is the first game that successfully makes Superman a fun character to play. Justice League Heroes’ greatest strength lies within its diverse cast of characters and the developer’s ability to make each of these heroes feel different from one other. Green Arrow is a great ranged character. Flash’s lightning quick movement is used to create some truly amazing combos. Green Lantern’s ring can provide much needed protection. Every one of these leaguers is handled with great care. It’s a shame that the rest of the game doesn’t embody the same quality – which is quite shocking given developer Snowblind Studios’ pedigree with this genre and games like Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance. Justice League Heroes won’t set the world on fire, but it does show that there’s great video game potential emanating from the DC universe. Not even the strongest man on earth can save a mediocre game.

If you're a huge fan of the Justice League, you may find more entertainment in this title than someone not affiliated with the heroes. On the other hand, true fans will be the ones most likely to become frustrated by Justice League Heroes' shortcomings. It really does come down to what you're looking for, and what you're willing to put up with in order to play through the game.

There is a lot to like in Justice League Heroes, especially if you have a friend who doesn't mind spending some time beating up crazy enemies with you. The game doesn't push the system to its limits and it can be a bit on the repetitive side, but it's also a lot of fun in the same way that all of those classic dungeon crawlers are fun. Hopefully this is just the beginning of the Heroes franchise, if this game is any indication then there's a lot of potential for future installments. If you're the type of person that has always wanted to play with Superman, Batman and all of DC's other classic characters then this game is right up your alley, you could do a lot worse than Justice League Heroes.

The Justice League is a team of all the coolest super heroes from the DC universe. Okay well I don't really know that for sure, maybe there's some really niche super hero out there that is cooler than everyone else in the Justice League, but let's face it, the Justice League has the most popular DC heroes. Everyone from Superman to the Green Lantern, if you've heard of em, they're probably in the League. So with such a cool team of heroes, it should be easy to make a fantastic game featuring each one of them. After all, you've got Superman, the best, most indestructible super hero ever; Batman, the moodiest hero this side of Gotham; Wonder Woman, the Amazonian princess(and who, frankly, is very hot); and the list goes on. Well, the guys at Snowblind at least did an admirable job putting a list of heroes together, but unfortunately the gameplay just doesn't hold a candle to its all-star cast.

The Justice League of America has existed since the 1960s, and has been combating world-threatening villains for years, teaming up to take on the threats that even Batman and Superman can't handle alone. While comic books have been plodding along for all these years, with high points like Frank Miller's Dark Knight at the peak of the medium's storytelling possibilities, it's been the super heroic transition to other entertainment mediums that has brought the capes and costumes to the forefront of the public eye. The Justice League animated series is just one example, and for many gamers, it will be the reason why they are interested in Snowblind and Warner Bros. Interactive's latest release, Justice League Heroes, for the Xbox and PS2.

It's a genre that may never be more popular than it is right now – when you see it, you know what you're getting and most players are already decided. But if games like this are going to keep popping up, they'll need to offer new ideas. Even so, JLH is a lot of fun, especially if you're a fan of the major characters.

It doesn't take a brainiac to realize the appeal of a Justice League game -- hell, all you need to do is put Superman and Batman together, and bam: Watch the fanboys freak. But while Justice League Heroes manages to include all the key members of DC's supergroup (including a few weird ones you've probably never heard of, like Zatanna), the game still needs saving.

When the Earth is threatened, one team can be counted upon to stop evil in its tracks and ensure the safety of the populace. No, not the A-Team -- The Justice League. Comprised of Earth's greatest heroes (and Aquaman), the Justice League is DC's preeminent superhero team. With developer Snowblind Studios' Justice League Heroes, gamers are finally able to take control of the famed League and do battle with DC's most vile villains.

G4 TV: X-Play
Justice League Heroes is not perfect, and it’s definitely not innovative, but it makes a solid action adventure out of the familiar gameplay and well-loved characters. While it’s not as expansive and polished as Marvel Ultimate Alliance, for anyone who wanted to team up Batman and Superman, or take flight with the Manhunter and Green Lantern, this is the only game in town.

Game Revolution
The most distinguishing feature of Justice League Heroes is its complete lack of any. The game’s one, toted new feature, the ability to pick up rocks and sticks, is literally primitive. Justice League Heroes is justice on the order of parking tickets and income taxes, an unsurprising and tedious cog in the doleful gears of commercial repackaging.
