"Onimusha 2" é uma merecida evolução de um dos grandes destaques do PlayStation 2. Se você gostou do original, certamente adorará essa merecida continuação. Imagine a continuação como uma versão concentrada de tudo aquilo que fez do primeiro game um clássico - só que melhorado. Resta agora esperar pelo terceiro capítulo.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny is exactly what I wanted it to be. I am extremely pleased with it. No, wait, I take that back. Extremely pleased? That's an understatement! This is the first PlayStation 2 game I've played since Medal of Honor: Frontline that is worthy of being called one of the best games of the year. Even before finishing Onimusha 2, I looked forward to playing through it again. That's true of most Capcom games. Replay value is their greatest advantage. This is a must-buy game for everyone. Even if you've never played the original, give Onimusha 2 a chance.

Aside from the fact that this game is more than twice as long as the original, you’ll also be glad to know that Capcom opted to include a slew of unlockable extras. These include such niceties as making-of documentaries, art illustrations, new costumes, modes of play, press-release trailers, mini-games, and multi-tiered plot progression. This game begs to be replayed at least once in order to realize the majority of the excellent additions that Capcom incorporated. Onimusha 2 more than does justice to its predecessor, it is a visual tour de force with amazing aural accompaniment backed up with interesting puzzles and a purely visceral combat system. The included playable characters are awesome and the RPG-esque enhancement element is great fun. Quite simply, Onimusha 2 is one of the year’s best offerings on the PS2.

Overall, Onimusha 2 is a more polished and lengthy game then the original Onimusha and fans of the series, or indeed any action-adventure title should enjoy this game. The graphics are wonderful, the music atmospheric, the puzzles intelligent and the game fairly hard overall. Fans of action adventure titles should pick up this title.

It may be somewhat short, have bad dubbing, and somewhat monotonus gameplay, but the game is simply engrossing. It's almost impossible to tell what it is, but something just reaches out of the screen and grabs the player and it won't let go. Be prepared to give extened playing sessions to this one so make sure you can call off work. Even after you beat it, the option to replay scenes you missed, get hidden videos, and view artwork add to the games play time. The worst part of the game? The teaser trailer for the third installment is included on the disc (if you can find it). This reviewer simply can't take the wait.

The sound effects are largely the same as the original – the clanging of swords and the noises of the demons are fairly simple, but well done and subdued. Distant noises can be heard at times, and the sound of a spawning enemy is a nice touch.

As my predecessor was before me, I too was a tad on the critical side when evaluating Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny. The natural tendency of someone in my position who thoroughly enjoyed the first installment of a series, looking for a title's flaws is oftentimes easier to do than finding what's great about it.

Game Informer Magazine
With video games in a constant state of evolution, and developers continually pushing the envelope, time is of the essence. A title that is considered a blockbuster could in fact become antiquated a day later. Such is the case for Onimusha. Within the same year of its release, Onimusha was upstaged and outclassed by Devil May Cry. Conceptually, the two games are similar in design; but when you break down the gameplay execution, Devil May Cry simply crushes Onimusha – making it look archaic by comparison. It’s a dog-eat-dog video game world.

All in all, Onimusha 2 is worth every dollar for fans of the first. It is strongly suggested that those unfamiliar with the franchise at least rent it and give it a spin. It's easy to get into (if you're not a stickler about RE-style control schemes) and gives the truest hardcore gamers more than enough action and difficulty to keep them playing for weeks. Yes, the 20-level Phantom Realms have returned and continue to reward you handsomely for your efforts. Plus, there is a wealth of goodies to be enjoyed by anyone dedicated enough to play this game through and through. The only deductible faults would be several rehashed Warlords screens and a leveling up system that is much slower than the first, forcing you to fight more often if you want your weapons and armor maxed out. Still, Capcom is known for making many AAA titles and they can tack on Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny to their resumes. Buy it!

Overall I thought Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny was an enjoyable, but yet again, hack n’ slash fighting type game, but was balanced enough with the way you had to fight a boss that I didn’t mind the hack n’ slash as much. There are a few places in the game that will thoroughly tick you off beyond relief and frustrate you beyond belief, however just sing to yourself the Kung Fu Fighting song and it should help you do a little better and use your “samurai skills” to defeat your opponent or boss( which in my case meant the annoying swords-DEVIL boss).

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is a Capcom’s first sequel to a PS2-original franchise and it is more than just “more of the same.†The graphics have matured to push the bar higher for what a PS2 game should look like and despite flawed localization and some awkward moments in the voice-acting, delivers the promise of “more, deeper, better.†O2 is hot enough to attract action fans, deep enough to attract action RPG fans and gory enough to attract survival horror fans. But parents of young gamers, beware -- this title earns its M for Mature rating.

Also surprising was the sheer number and variations of areas in the game. It's clear that a great deal of work went into making the Japan of Onimusha 2 as real and vibrant as possible. Minute details in the backgrounds and of the characters and their enemies serve up a banquet of enjoyable gameplay elements marred only occasionally. This game is a worthy addition to any PS2 library as it will certainly be replayed someday, if not instantly, and several times in a row.

Onimusha 2 could have been longer, and it could have offered an analog control scheme. It also should have offered a Japanese language option like its predecessors. These aren't major concerns, though. After all, it's easy to find fault with games that have a lot of strengths. The ending of Onimusha 2 segues into a trailer for the next installment in the series, which is being billed as the final episode. The bottom line is, many of those who reach the ending will find themselves anticipating that next chapter starting right then and there.

The Video Game Critic
Ominusha 2 provides a generous number of save points, which also allow you to enhance weapons and armor. Still, it's painfully easy to get stuck, and constantly respawning monsters ratchet up the frustration level. Another issue involves having to use the digital control instead of the analog stick to move. You either run or stop - there's no walking, which is disappointing. The voice acting is pretty bad, although dialogue like "My daughter has been taken by monsters!" doesn't help matters. Still, those who enjoyed the first Ominusha will find this good-looking sequel worthy of their attention.
