Worth Playing (Sep 20, 2005)
For the most part, however, Outlaw Tennis manages to pull off something I didn't think it could do: it blends goofball antics and serious tennis kind of nicely. The skits are hit-or-miss, and usually miss, but the commentary is rock-solid. This is the kind of game where you can see the flaws in it, and they'll bother you, but it's just fun to keep playing anyway because you know you can win if you could just get the ball ever so slightly to the right, or if your reflexes were just a little faster. The next thing you know, it's three in the morning and you've been playing tennis all night long, trying to unlock the next mini-game so you can boost your stats a bit and take on the World Tour mode again. I'd call that a solidly successful tennis game.

GameSpot (Aug 15, 2005)
The Outlaw series has been on the verge of something great since its inception, and it seems like the game could easily achieve greatness were it not for the chronic compulsion to be all Jerry Springer. If you can get past that, though, Outlaw Tennis is a great value--from both a single-player and a multiplayer perspective--and it introduces some genuinely unique spins on the sport of tennis.
IGN (Aug 03, 2005)
The humor in Outlaw Tennis evokes the uncomfortable feeling of watching a rookie comedian bomb in front of a large crowd. Fortunately the gameplay and plethora of options combine to make for a fairly competent sports title.
If you're a fan of the series, Outlaw Tennis might just be the game you're looking for. However, if it's top quality tennis you seek, there are better options on both PS2 and Xbox.
UOL Jogos (Aug 19, 2005)
In a final stroke of futility, Outlaw Tennis can't even strain spaghetti like a real racquet, so what's the use?
With the crucial problems, this one should be impossible to recommend. As usual, the variety saves it, with wacky modes of play like football (every point gains "yardage," while missing a shot turns it over). Baseball involves moving runners, and betting puts a dollar amount on every play. Career mode inserts a few of these, but you'll mostly be playing basic tennis. Doubles play is also available, which makes for an open online experience. Sadly, you'll need to deal with an unrefined engine, sloppy controls, and plenty of frustration to make it through any of these modes. This is the only game in this series that does not deserve a sequel.

Vaikka asiasta on vitsailtu ennenkin, Outlaw Tennis on ensimmäinen peli, joka on saanut minut oikeasti suuttumaan ja miettimään, miten sekaisin maailma saa olla, jotta jollekulle on maksettu tämän läjän pusertamisesta dvd-levylle.
