This game wants to be a cart racer, but it seems like the developers gave up halfway through and decided on remote-controlled stuff instead. I guess you could call it an attempt to make RC Pro Am look really, really good. Except it isn’t as fun as RC Pro Am. The choice of different car models is nice in theory, but when you’re playing the game, it doesn’t seem to make a whole lot of difference which car you’ve chosen – everything else on the course is going to be faster than you. The backgrounds and animations are beautiful, but the gameplay just seems to be playing catch up to the graphics the entire way through. There are going to be other racing titles released that will be more worthy of your attention, but renting this one might not be a bad idea. A night of multiplayer racing, and you’ll have seen everything this game has to offer.

RC Revenge Pro isn't a bad game. In fact, despite its graphical and gameplay shortcomings, it can be a fun and wacky ride. The ride is short, however, and poorly suited to stand the test of time.

So, what we have here is a marginally better looking version of a bad PS-X game masquerading as a bona fide PlayStation 2 title. I think there are better ways you could spend your 50 bucks, especially when you consider that the price of RC Revenge for the PlayStation has already been dropped to $20 at most retailers. Although, I wouldn’t say this game is a bargain, even at that price.

In the end I was overly disappointed with RC Revenge Pro, I was expecting a whole new game with great new features, even speedier gameplay and maybe even a four-player mode, hello! The directly ported graphics look only better because of the polish, but in the end there is no major difference between the PS2 and PSOne version, in-fact the frame rate is much better on the PSOne version. The gameplay has remained untouched, and so has everything else, it just makes me wonder why the game wasn't released closer to PS2 launch?

RC Revenge Pro does have its moments. And the "pick up" button is still a cool idea for an RC game. However, that cool innovation still can't fix the horrid framerate and the fact that RC Revenge Pro is still just a Mario Kart retread. Stick with Mario Kart unless you really have to have a new game.

In this case, RC stands for really crappy. Unless you truly enjoy subpar courses, low-grade weapons, ho-hum racing, and pre-Newtonian physics, you should probably avoid the lifeless RC Revenge Pro. Yes, you get to choose from over 30 vehicles (including the first RC boats) and race through worlds with Disney-esque themes (Pirate World, Adventure World, etc.); you can play against a friend; and you can create your own tracks.
