To sum up, Scarface is very good indeed. Computer gaming has recently been described as a 'psychotic holiday' - where the gamer takes a break from morality, restraint, remorse or humanity, and this title delivers the opportunity by the tightly packed kilo. Given the high profile of the game's publication and release, it is surprising that more flack has not been cast by the red-top newspapers and concerned parenting groups - although perhaps even they have realized that a game built on Oliver Stone's crime epic is not going to be suitable for younger gamers. Scarface delivers on nearly every front, from its varied and excellent soundtrack overseen by Jay-Z, to its strong characterization, stylized violence, outrageous swearing, and engaging progress.
There's a lot to praise, but despite being fun and interesting, the game isn't perfect. Gamers who are getting used to the next-generation of console visuals aren't going to be impressed with either the PS2 or the Xbox version of the game, although options like widescreen and progressive scan are supported on both. Past superficial faults, there are bound to be a few duller moments in the game where you need to work hard banking drug money or pumping your reputation to move on to something more interesting. Controlling your henchmen for side-missions isn't very interesting or enjoyable. The game's outrageous tone does dull a bit as you move on, and the action and dialogue eventually start to repeat themselves. Still, Scarface is a long-lasting experience that's simply a lot of fun. Part guilty pleasure, part blazingly successful experiment in game design, Scarface: The World is Yours is definitely worth a shot.

Video Game Talk
I'll be honest; I wasn't expecting much from Scarface. After all it's a movie game, and one based on a cult classic at that. So many things could have gone wrong with this title and even though it mimics GTA it brings enough fresh material to the table to stand on its own two feet. Montana's Balls and the Rage meter really added an arcade spin to the sandbox theme and the atmosphere's undeniable Scarface influence helps things out a lot. Fans of the film should check it out but gamers looking for a quality GTA-like game should definitely keep their eye on this one.

Scarface: The World Is Yours is a fun game, in all honesty, and it's even better for big fans. It's just too bad the control didn't live up to expectations, and the game proceeds in a mostly unbelievable manner. The city is large and teeming with life, sporting more vivacity and liveliness than any GTA populace, but not enough of it is utilized. You do get to visit blood banks to refill your health, drop off acquired funds at the bank, purchase all kinds of goodies, and basically be the man around town, but it all feels somewhat stripped down and clunky. Ironically enough, despite all the frills, they all seem disjointed and even superfluous, which essentially means the individual pieces are better than the whole.
Game Revolution
The Dolly du jour in the video game industry is Grand Theft Auto, but most of its copies have strangely turned out to be goats. The solution, as discovered by the developers at Radical, is Moreauvian. To keep their GTA clone from going ba-a-ad (don’t worry, I’ll let that one die), they spliced it with the DNA of crazy Cuban refugee Tony Montana. The result is fun, violent, and every bit as evil as a cross-bred clone should be.
Overall, Scarface: The World Is Yours is more a victim of some poor design choices than any glaring technical issues. The developers accomplished the task of bringing Tony Montana back to life. But by taking the focus off of the gameplay elements that you'd want in an open-city game and putting it more on the game's bland mission design and all the dull side tasks you'll have to do to earn a reputation, Scarface doesn't play to its potential strengths. The end result is a functional game that presents an interesting premise, but underneath you'll find a wholly uninteresting game.
Play Magazine
When it was conceived, the game was perhaps ahead of its time. Oft-delayed, Scarface now looks and feels old; it’s been eclipsed by prettier, smarter, and more interesting crime adventures such as The Godfather and Saints Row for the Xbox 360. Say hello to our little friend, great disappointment.
