Colossus #5Contributed by Matt Neuteboom (941) on Dec 04, 2005.

Colossus #5. Now we're making progress. Start by heading out of the temple at the left exit. Make a left here. Use your sword to aim you in the right direction. Follow your sword until you reach a canyon. Head right, it will lead you around the wall and the canyon. Follow the light on your sword to your right and you will come to a lake.

Your horse obviously cannot swim, so get off him and jump in the lake. Do you see the big chunk of stone wall in front of you? Well right in the center there is a hole underwater. Dive underwater with R1 and you will come to a small area. In front of you there are some notches. Climb them and the game will reveal mystery colossus #5.

This colossus takes the form of a hawk. This is one of my favorite colossi in the game. It will swoop majestically onto a perch and rest there. From here you cannot get its attention. See the crack in the floor in front of you? Drop down. You cannot use your bow in the water, so to your right between two rock structures there are three platforms. Starting swimming there. When you get there, whip out your bow and fire of a few volleys. It should get its attention.

Now stand on the center platform. It will start to circle a few times overhead. If it doesn't, fire more arrows at it to get its attention. When it does start circling, wait until it does the attack where it swoops down and tries to pick you up with its talons. When it does this, make sure you stand on the center platform. The colossus will fly head first into you. Position yourself right in front of either of its shoulders. When it is about to fly over the platform, jump and hold R1. If all goes well, you should be grabbing onto its shoulder hair. Wait while the beast gains altitude.

Now here's the fun part.

Climb up onto its shoulders and rest there, but not for too long, there is constant wind pushing you backwards, so continuously grab onto its hair. Once you have a good amount of energy, position yourself so you are just barely grabbing the shoulder hair. When the hawk is flying straight without any cliffs in front of it (meaning it won't need to turn any time soon), run as fast as possible to the hair on the wing. If you make, then good. Grab the hair, and plunge your sword into the wing. The magical spot can only take one good hit, so when you've hit it, make sure you're held on the hair. The hawk will make a 360 spin, which loses you a lot of grip. If you've stayed on, make sure the colossus isn't going to to turn and run like hell for the shoulders.

Now for the other one. This isn't all different from the other one. You will want to cross the back and grab onto the shoulders before you attempt to cross the wing. Also, you could regenerate your grip here too. Cross the wing, repeat the process, and hold on while the hawk does a 360. Remember that this spot can only take one charged hit as well.

If by any chance you have fallen off the colossus by now, simply repeat the process as before. Go to the platforms, get its attention, and jump on. You will not lose any health, but it takes a hell of a long time to get back up.

Anyway, this leaves the last spot to hit. Quickly climb back to its shoulders when its not flapping its wings. When your on its back, run to the back of the tail (for dramatic effect, start humming the Indiana Jones theme song). If the colossus starts to turn, grab its hair to stabilize. The last spot can take the rest of its health away.

When that is all said and done, the majestic beast will plummet to the earth in a spectacular cutscene. Start swimming towards the beast's dead body, and the dark stream will come and you will pass out.
