Super Trucks Racing is a solid title that definitely bears checking out. While the overall style of the game is similar to what has been done before, the uniqueness of the driving skills, spurred by the vehicles, adds an interesting element that racing fans might enjoy.
Consoles Plus
Gaming Age
With great handling, nice visuals, and tough A.I., Super Trucks is easily worth the purchase at only $14.99. For trucking and stock car fans, this is a no brainer. For everyone else in the racing world, it's worth your time.
In many ways, Super Trucks Racing is a welcome surprise. It's been a long time since any company has tried to do anything with the concept of truck racing, outside of a lot of slapdash, parody-filled schlock. Super Trucks Racing is certainly not this. On the contrary, it's quite serious about being a simulation-style truck racing game, and in that capacity, it definitely succeeds. Plus, when you take into account its budget pricing, it just makes an already decent product that much better. All told, the game is definitely not for everyone, but if you're a fan of truck racing and have been dying for a solid representation of the sport, you shouldn't hesitate to pick up Super Trucks Racing.
With an already huge library of PS2 racing games, there's little reason for casual fans to look to Super Trucks Racing—it's definitely not a thrilling racer, and this lack of excitement is what ultimately hurts the game. However, any fans of the super trucks sport should definitely give the game a spin. With a budget price, it's hard to go too wrong, and it'd be easy to do much worse than Super Trucks Racing. The game is definitively competent, and competence is just about all it has to offer to race fans seeking a quick thrill.
