GameZone (Feb 13, 2001)
Not only is this game loaded with some of the best graphics you will find in a game, characters with individual personality but also a sense of knowing that the gamer is intelligent enough to set her or his limits.
GameSpot (Apr 14, 2000)
All totaled, Swing Away Golf is a game whose features and execution could barely be explained by a book, let alone by a review. T&E Soft has delivered a winner of a game for both golf fanatics and casual gamers alike. Though it couldn't hurt, becoming a pro isn't required in Swing Away Golf, and, as such, access to the game's quirky cast and various play modes is available to most audiences. For many, golf is boring and lacking in entertainment value.
Sports Gaming Network (Dec 14, 2000)
Whether you are a golf-game aficionado looking for something different, or an all-around gamer looking for an enjoyable golf game, Swing Away Golf should do nicely. While it lacks freshness, a combination of colorful graphics and realistic ball physics gives it broad appeal. Not everyone may find it worthy of a purchase -- especially those who are looking for real courses and golfers -- but it is the only golf game currently available for the PS2. Fortunately, it happens to be a good one, so it should keep most gamers entertained until EA Sports unleashes Tiger Woods onto the system.
Gamer's Pulse (Dec 10, 2000)
Does Swing Away Golf live up to the expectations of a Playstation 2 launch title? Yes and no - if you are looking for a fun golf game to play with computer players or your friends, this is a worthy title to be on your shelf, but if you are looking for graphically intense realistic golf action, you may want to wait to see what other games will be released in the future.

How odd…Electronic Arts publishing a sports game for an outside developer? Next you’ll tell me the sky is falling. Regardless, Swing Away Golf is an excellent release. Mixing complex gameplay techniques with goofy anime characters, Swing Away bears a striking resemblance to Sony’s Hot Shots series. While not excruciatingly painful, the long loading times tend to be a tad annoying…But then again, this is golf – a sport created by the Sandman himself. If you don’t mind brief pauses in the action, Swing Away’s dynamic play and gorgeous graphics will captivate you stroke aficionados.
Swing Away is really easy to play, yet the slow pace is a little annoying. It definitely isn’t as good as Hot Shots, but is still enjoyable for a golf freak like me.
PSM (Nov, 2000)
Considering that the Hot Shots series has yet to appear on the PS2, Swing Away is about as close as you're going to get right now. Sure, there are some general flaws, but it's still a great way to introduce someone to the world of golf. You just have to get past the slightly confusing hitting interface and put up with some awkward loading times. If you can, then you'll find out that golf can be not only fun, but also quite addictive. Fore!
Game Revolution (Dec, 2000)
Swing Away Golf is a fun little golfer whose attitude and extras keep the game from getting too dull. Some problems with minor slowdown and the lack of creative courses are a disappointment, but the game doesn't suffer too greatly. If lighthearted video game golfing doesn't sound like such a bad idea, this one's for you.
Gamezone (Germany) (Apr 26, 2001)
