There are loads of other features too, such as a new drift mode, car tuning, 2-player split screen, and an arcade mode. You get the picture. Prologue is massive and exactly what the PS3 needs to rev up the install base alongside Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Overall, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue certainly proved to be worth the hype. I was excited for this game, and when I finally started playing the full version, I was in awe of how amazing this game really felt. The Gran Turismo series has always set the standards high, but this game literally blows all other driving sims out of the water. Once you really spend some time with this title, you'll have a hard time going back to Project Gotham Racing or Forza Motorsports. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue definitely lives up to its title as "The Real Driving Simulator." This game must be experienced for automotive fans as well as Sony fans, and I can almost guarantee that you'll have a blast playing this title. But be warned: this gaming bliss does have its cost: once you delve into Prologue, you won't be able to wait for Gran Turismo 5! Oh, the agony!
GT5 is a joyride into the next-gen racing simulation scene. The graphics are amazing and the supporting cast of controls and sound do a good job. Online needs a little tuning to run smoother, but the elements are there for fun and challenge. This game is a must-have for all racing sim lovers.
For me, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue does for the GT series what Resident Evil 4 did for the Resident Evil series; while I didn't fancy previous installments (including the GTHD Concept released on PSN not too long ago), GT5p hits a certain balance that I can't help but appreciate. It feels right. When you add realistic razor-sharp graphics, incredible audio (both sound effects and music), updated video content and a great presentation, there isn't much to complain about. I've already dumped more hours into it than I did PGR4 , the last racing game that I liked, which speaks volumes about the quality of GT5p. This is my favorite racing game so far this generation and it's not even the final product. Awesome!
Even without a top-of-the-line home theater, this game makes you believe that you are living the high life. It exudes elitism, class, and affluence at every turn. It’s a game every bit as precise and refined as the cars it replicates. But it also doesn’t forget that it’s still a game made for the grease monkey in all of us. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue shits roses and presents them to us as the first course in what promises to be one of the tastiest racing meals ever served.

Apart from this slight niggle Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is an excellent racing simulation. I have heard that there will be a patch out later in the year that will address this problem and include vehicle damage, so all is not lost. This game looks incredible and has loads of cars and modes to keep you going until the main event that will be Gran Tourismo 5. The bottom line is, If you only have one console, and it is a PS3, then this is the game you must buy, if you want the most realistic driving experience ever.
In the end, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is an excellent game and, at the same time, a "vehicle" for advertising and hyping (and, I'm sure, monetizing) the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 game. If you're only going to get one or the other, you're going to want to wait. If you simply can't wait to get your hands on the latest Gran Turismo hot machine lovin', then you need to get this game.
If you don't fancy a wheel you will probably want to get hold of a Dual Shock 3 - the controller is also fully supported with its re-integrated rumble feature. Whichever way you cut it this is a great taste of what is to come in GT5. But let us remember it is a sample we are paying for. At a hefty 25 GBP it's a pretty expensive demo, albeit one that should keep you smiling for a good few weeks.

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is the sort of game that was made with its core audience in mind, and it does well to deliver those individuals an experience they will enjoy until the full version of Gran Turismo 5 arrives. These individuals likely already have the game in hand and are constantly working to perfect their lines in preparation for next year. For everyone else, this will likely be a game you either love or hate, depending on your tolerance for new things.

Even though its really just a big demo, “prologue” holds as a game on it’s own. Compared to other racers out there, go some elements of Prolouge are dated, and some car upgrade options would have been nice... but fans will enjoy the car detail and tuning. I’m giving it 8.5/10
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is a really taste test and tease for the final game. There is enough here to keep you going for hours and hours but once you do unlock all the cars you want to, it very quickly becomes just another racing game. With that said though, the cars, the tracks and the cockpit view all combine with the career mode to make a very compelling package. It's hard to recommend what ultimately is a cash-in for those who just can't wait, but anyone who has a PS3 really must try this game, even if it’s just to see just what the system can do.
Well this is a demo (a really large one at that) and all I can say is that I hope they’ll add a rally mode to the final version (they usually do). Because imagining this graphics engine with Rally tracks makes me really excited. This is only a taste of things to come so I’m going to hold off on a 9, but if you’re a GT fan and have $40 to blow then purchase this. Besides I’m pretty sure that when the full game does come out you can transfer your progress over.
The Gran Turismo series is heralded as being the top of litter for racing simulators, and based on Prologue, it looks like GT5 will uphold such claims. Although it's not the final game, Prologue shows off new elements that are being implemented for the series debut on the PS3. While it's obvious there has been great care put into the game, Prologue also shows that there are issues that need to be addressed for the upcoming, complete experience. Priced at $39.99, whether you buy the disk or download it, it will be hard for some to stomach the fact you're not buying a finished game. Ultimately, Prologue is a die-hard's game, but it is also a great way for newcomers to see what all of the accolades are for.
By now, many of you have made up your mind even before this game was reviewed to go and buy it. If you're one of those people, kudos to you, my friend, because when you pick up the game, you'll be in racing nirvana. The other group that should go and buy this game is car enthusiasts because they won't be successful in finding a better simulation car game on the market. While you are in a race, the flaws will fade into the background as you wrap yourself in a blanket of world class gameplay and polish. Same goes for online, the gameplay and polish win out over the borderline archaic system. Once you reflect on the game, you'll pick out the issues but they are minuscule in the grand scheme of things. The only real issue is, are you willing to bite the bullet and pay for a game that is in between a demo and game?
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has most everything we've loved about the GT franchise in the past, though with some notable improvements and additions while simultaneously on a smaller scale. The AI is much improved, the online, while basic, works really well, and the series (or really any other racing game in existence) has never been more realistic nor arguably fun to drive (with Burnout being its only "fun" competition). Prologue is not necessarily a game for someone who wasn't quite into Gran Turismo in the past and is thinking of giving it another go (that'll be the full GT5 release next year), but it's definitely a worthy pickup for fans of the franchise.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, really, is the biggest demo you'll ever play. There honestly is more to do here than in many full-price titles, despite the fact it's merely a teaser. It's barn-stormingly beautiful and feels sublime, and even though the online racing seems like a bit of a dud, we're sure Polyphony can update and improve it. Honestly, GT die-hards (and there are millions of them) should lap this up.
None of these quirks are likely to stop fans from racking up the races online. Immature as Prologue's online play is, it provides just enough basic functionality to avoid undermining everything that the game's single-player mode offers. It also doesn't hurt that the game looks amazing; the series' trademark replays are more striking than ever, with sweeping, panoramic bird's-eye views seamlessly transitioning to pavement-level shots of cars blasting past. And the in-car cockpit view sports minute details down to the stray stitches on your Sparco gloves. Prologue comes at a premium price, but for driving enthusiasts, it provides more than enough return on the investment.

Abschliessend bleibt zu sagen, dass Gran Turismo 5: Prologue für Fans der Serie und Rennspiel-Liebhaber definitiv sein Geld wert ist. Wer jedoch nach vielen Herausforderungen und einem anspruchsvollen Mehrspieler-Modus sucht, der sollte mit dem Kauf bis 2009 warten, denn dann bringt Sony die Vollversion auf den Markt.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is without a doubt a beautiful piece of gameplay and offers a lot of realistic driving fun. Visually and auditively this is top, but the game does disappoint in a lot of other departments, not in the least when comparing with other racing games that have been on the market already for quite some time. The weak online multiplayer, the absence of a damage model, the average AI and the somewhat clumsy menus make the game a lot less appealing. A definite suggestion for those that only have a PS3 and don't need to save money to be able to buy this though
Deeply flawed as the structure of the game may be, there’s no doubting it still offers the definitive automotive experience in gaming. As a taster for the full course it suggests that, when it arrives, Gran Turismo 5 could well be one of the greatest driving titles ever. But as a standalone title it’s impossible to not question Polyphony Digital’s decision to drip feed its new game and present what at times can be a ragged package. That said, there’s enough content here to keep the petroleum levels in the bloodstream of the most ardent automobile fans peaked, and as such it still manages to nose clear of the rest of the chasing pack.

I can probably go on for a lot longer on the tiny little things I've found in this game, but I'd rather leave you to discover all of them on your own, and hopefully be just as amazed as I was. I don't want to give this one too high of a rating simply because I think it's priced $10 too much. However, there are plans to release content as it's completed, as well as rumblings that damage modeling might be added later on. For now, I'm going to say that it is a must-buy for fans of the series and at least worth a rental for everyone else. Because of the price, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue gets 8 out of 10 (and keep in mind that I'm sort of rating this as a demo).

It doesn’t mess with the good foundation that Sony has implemented and adds more comprehensive options that will have you coming back for more. Mas é uma prévia apetitosa para o verdadeiro "Gran Turismo 5" e obrigatório para todos os fãs do gênero.
After playing for 5 or 10 hours, there's a good chance that you'll have seen everything of substance that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has to offer. The package is complete enough, though, that you'll probably keep playing just to improve your times or to unlock those last few vehicles or to trounce your competition online. Maybe you'll keep going just for the unparalleled immersion. Whatever your reasons, you'll probably return to it regularly as the months pass and the eventual release of 'the real deal' draws nigh. Waiting was difficult, but now it's easier.
Writing a review of Gran Tursimo 5 Prologue feels a little like writing a review of the trailer for the upcoming "Iron Man" movie. It's fast, pretty and exciting, but it's still too early to tell if it will lead to a balanced and successful finished product. Prologue will definitely scratch the itch for GT fans waiting to get their hands on next-gen racing, but the disc suffers from an overly short single-player game and the same problems -- the ability to drive recklessly and the lack of damage -- that have dogged the series for a while. Online the game is a real treat, though. $39 may seem like a lot for a game that's far from a total package, but when you do the math, it's less than a buck a week to play the thing until GT5 drops.

Das ultimative Rennspiel ist Gran Turismo 5 Prologue zweifellos nicht. Dafür fehlt dem Spiel noch so einiges. Wie zum Beispiel ein Schadensmodell, ein konsequentes Bestrafungssystem bei Online-Rennen, unterschiedliche Witterungsverhältnisse sowie Tag- und Nachtwechsel. Ausserdem ist die Streckenauswahl noch ziemlich spärlich. Verbesserungspotential gibt es bis zum Release der Vollversion also ausreichend. Was hingegen jetzt schon voll und ganz zu überzeugen vermag, sind neben der äusserst geschickten KI die fast fotorealistische Grafik und der umfangreiche Fuhrpark. Nicht zuletzt deshalb lohnt sich der Kauf für Genre-Fans allemal. Alle anderen sollten sich die Anschaffung allerdings besser zweimal überlegen.

The name of the game says it all - Prologue is a taste of what is to come. It offers up a sizeable garage of 70 local and exotic cars, but only 30 single-player events. If you are determined, you can fly through all of the challenges in a day, although you will have to dedicate some serious time to replaying events if you wish to purchase all of the vehicles. That begs the question, is it worth purchasing? Absolutely.
Um bei dem Eingangs erwähnten Cliffhanger „Haute Cuisine oder nur Bockwurst“ zu bleiben: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue ist gute Hausmannskost, nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Von der Bockwurst ist man nicht zuletzt angesichts der Grafikpracht ohnehin weit entfernt. Zur Haute Cuisine muss man sich aber noch hinarbeiten. Die KI ist noch unter Standard, ein Schadensmodell (per Patch angekündigt) muss her, der Online-Modus muss dringend verbessert werden, gescheites Tuning mit Teilekauf und Setup von Anfang an braucht es, der Schwierigkeitslevel gehört ausgeglichener, die Menüstruktur kann verbessert werden und so weiter und so fort. Die ToDo-Liste für das Finale Gran Turismo 5 ist lang. Auf dem aktuellen (Demo-)Level ist man noch ein Stück weit von der Xbox 360-Vorzeigesimulation Forza Motorsport 2 entfernt. Doch da es derzeit sowieso keine andere Rennsimulation für die PS3 gibt, kommen Fans dieses Genres wohl nicht um den Kauf von GT5p herum.
'Gran Turismo 5 Prologue' ist ein Appetithappen, der schnell verdaut ist und mir dabei außerordentlich gut geschmeckt hat. Doch danach verlangt der Spielermagen nach dem Hauptgang, und der bleibt leider aus. Online-Rennen können die Durststrecke ein wenig lindern, aber letztendlich muss jeder von euch selbst entscheiden, ob er die 40 Euro ausgeben möchte. Fans werden den Kauf auf keinen Fall bereuen.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is an interesting prospect. Technically it's good but it really hasn't moved much from previous versions. Where's the innovation? Where's the damage? Why the hell is there screen tearing still?! It pains me to say, but this isn't an essential purchase.

The strength of this game's racing only makes its lack of growth in other fundamental areas all that more baffling. How easy would it be for Gran Turismo to rule the racing world if Polyphony put half the effort it does into capturing muffler audio into areas like a new career mode, pacing, and other features that rival franchises have conquered long ago? Until then, this series' commitment to racing will have to suffice, and I think it will for franchise fans, but few else.
I know GT is about real cars, and the realism in the way they race... but for me, realistic racing comes from car damage, stadium crowds that aren’t 2D, and that react to your presence in a timely and predictive way. I also like a fence I can knock down, interesting race tracks and a rocking sound track – but prologue didn’t have any of these things so I struggled a bit here to understand why previous GT’s are so popular. I enjoyed Prologue, and I can definitely see the appeal, but it’s far from perfect. 7.5/10.

Evaluer Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, c'est noter un produit final qui n'en est pas vraiment un. A partir de là, chacun se fera une opinion sur l'intérêt d'un titre aussi limité dans sa progression. 40 euros pour l'ébauche d'une suite qui tarde à débarquer sur PS3 pourra paraître très cher au joueur occasionnel mais pas forcément au fan qui adhère totalement aux mécanismes pourtant parfois poussiéreux de la série. La stagnation de la conduite justifie-t-elle de se priver d'un tel bijou technique ? Telle est la question...
If Gran Turismo 5 is going to be the real driving simulator, then Prologue could be described as the warm-up lap. Although the game is an astounding technical achievement that looks and sounds nothing short of amazing, it's ultimately only a brief taste of the smorgasbord to come.
Despite all of its faults, its lack of content, and distressingly limited modding options, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue still feels a cut above the pack. It's an astonishingly pretty, super smooth indication of what PS3 owners have in store after a long, long wait.

For a full game, Prologue is lacking very highly. Yet for its lower price, and the knowledge that it isn't the full game and is only a taste of what's to come, we're left embittered and wanting more, better, and sooner.
So, when all is said and done Gran Turismo 5 Prologue does exactly what you’d expect it to, offering an interesting look at where the series is going in the future. In truth, not much of the core gameplay has changed, and it is still a GT game, albeit one that even more perfectly recreates what it’s like to get behind a wheel dream cars. In the same vein, all the vehicles on show have even more personality than ever before, all with their own roar, small interior touches, and little eccentricities that make them fun to learn how to handle, and then perform an immaculate lap with further down the line. In the end, it is still the same old GT we know and love. You don’t have to know that the Aston Martin V8 Vantage boasts 4.3 litre 380HP V8 to enjoy it, but it certainly does help.
"GT5 prologue" has a lot to do before it catches up with Forza. Yes, the graphics are good, and the in-car view is another good feature, but the sense of speed is abysmal. Worse still is the handling model, especially in the third person view. It looks and feels rubbish in comparison to Forza, and don't even get me started on the physics. The collision detection is poor, and the lack of damage is also upsetting. There is a pleasing amount of content, 16 player races, and reasonable online, but ultimately, unless a lot is done before the full release, GT5 will lose its crown to Forza as king of the driving sims.

Le suspense restera donc entier jusqu'au bout, et puisque l'attente s'annonce longue, autant la passer en compagnie de GT5 Prologue qui - cerise sur le gâteau - s'est largement enrichi depuis sa première apparition au Japon, malgré un prix chez nous un peu plus conséquent. Le vide actuel en matière de simulation automobile sur PS3 est en tout cas désormais comblé. Il était temps.
GT5 Prologue is a difficult game to judge, there’s no doubt that there has been significant changes from its last outing, and it’s certainly no mere demo, but neither does it feel like a retail game. As a benchmark the game shows a lot of promise for the full release which will have significantly more of everything, and hopefully irons out the creases, but as a game it’s just disappointing.
On this evidence Polyphony Digital certainly have their work cut out to turn around Gran Turismo 5 and provide a worthwhile racing experience, rather than a title full of gimmicks and superficial additions.
I could talk about genuine innovations to the series like the Quick Tune option or GTTV, but what’s the point when the very basics are so sadly lacking behind EVERY other major driving franchise out there? With GRID on the horizon as well, unless the full version of GT5 pulls some major rabbits out of the hat, I’m afraid that the GT series will still be living in the late '90s rather than the 21st Century. I’m not blind to the fact that there’s a lot of people out there who almost treat the GT games as a kind of interactive showroom, and, for those people this is going to satisfy their needs, but for those of us who like our racing games to be thrilling as well as pretty, we’ll be getting our thrills elsewhere.
