State ancora leggendo?
Shooters have replaced fighting games as the most over-saturated genre in gaming today, and it's increasingly difficult to stand out from the crowd. However, with its unparalleled graphics, incredibly well-paced single-player campaign and in-depth multiplayer offerings, Killzone 2 has established its place among top-tier console shooters. Expectations on Killzone 2 had reached ridiculous proportions; here's one of those cases where the game actually lived up to them.
Killzone 2 is a solid FPS game and while it doesn't exactly break a lot of new ground it's one of the best shooters on the market. I had a lot of fun with the game and never once did I wonder when the game was going to end or feel like the game was dragging. As someone who loves FPS games I can't recommend the game highly enough and I think people are really going to dig the game when it hits shelves later this month. Co-op would have been nice to have but it's hard to hold it against the game that was this much fun.
Killzone 2 successfully iterates upon the formulas and standards of console first-person shooters in ways that make it feel fresh, and it does all that while looking absolutely outstanding. If you're the least bit interested in first-person shooting and you own a PlayStation 3, Killzone 2 should be near the top of your list.
Because it successfully brings together a compelling single player campaign and fully realized multiplayer experience, Killzone 2 emerges as a new benchmark for the shooter genre. This is a game that leverages an atmospheric presentation and superb game design for something memorable and lasting. To quibble about a lack of cooperative play through the campaign or the omission of some other feature is to miss the point: Killzone 2 is meant to be a carefully laid out epic. It is a must-have game, a brilliant start for the year, and among the best games of this generation.
Killzone 2 is an exceptional first-person shooter. It’s not especially innovative but the presentation is unmatched and the gameplay is superbly polished. The online mode alone guarantees that is a game that PS3 owners are going to keep in for months to come. All we need now is a coop mode for Killzone 3 and maybe some sort of plot.
This is the sort of game you'll end up playing just like you did when Goldeneye came out and the best thing in the world was a three-day weekend spent sleeping over with your friends, eating Bugles and drinking soda around the Nintendo 64 until the sun came up. Just don't feel too bad when you realize your nostalgia had to replace those friends with a fiancé or simply a couple of cats asleep on your lap. The times may have changed a little, but nobody said we weren't allowed to be satisfied anymore.
Killzone 2 borrows a lot of its ideas from other game but the key difference is that Killzone 2 cranks the decibels to levels not yet seen in video games. This is the definitive gaming experience of the year so far. This is the total package from top to bottom and worth every single penny you spend on it. In a time when you need to make sure that each dollar counts, a recommendation can't get any higher for this game. Killzone 2 is the new standard for all FPS games.
If you have played the original Killzone on the PS2 then don’t let it stop you from playing this one. The original was average at best although the PSP game Killzone Liberation was one my favourites on the handheld to date. Killzone 2 surpasses its original in every way it is a breathless feast of action from go to whoa.
Życzę wszystkim zainteresowanym Killzone 2 samych trafień/headshot’ów w czerwonooki łeb Higa - „i łup mu w łeb”.
The subject header pretty much sums it up; you need to buy this game immediately once it comes out. Even if you don't own a PS3, buy a copy anyway and wish real hard for the gaming fairies to bring you a new console. When that fails, feel free to steal your friend's unit and then pretend to feel bad when he tells you about how somebody broke into his house, stole his PS3 and kicked his dog. All the while you'll be silently laughing at his misfortune and reminding yourself you only kicked the pooch because he peed on you while you were unhooking the system from the TV. At this point feel free to excuse yourself to go see if the stain ever came out and enjoy some ill-gotten Killzone 2 goodness. He'll understand. After all, this is probably the best game on the PS3 yet.
Killzone 2 lives up to every one of its promises, and considering the bar it set for itself in 2005, that's a lot of promises to live up to. Ultimately, we have a game that strikes the perfect balance between a single-player and multiplayer experience. Where almost all current FPS games boast a multiplayer component that is far and away better and more satisfying than the single-player experience, Killzone 2 boasts a single-player campaign that is every bit as much fun as the multiplayer - and that is truly a rarity.
Killzone 2 sits alone aboard a thundering hype train as it hurtles through clawing mists of uncertainty and doubt towards to an end station never before reached by a PlayStation 3 release. Meanwhile, hordes of wide-eyed gamers gather expectantly around the train's assigned platform, clamouring for a clear view ahead of its much-vaunted arrival. A sense of promise flows from the crowd, filling the air and intertwining with whispers of longing and hopeful reassurances. But it is a promise as-yet unfulfilled, a promise many have watched fade and die on a platform where the train never arrives. Killzone 2 sits alone aboard a thundering hype train.
Overall, Killzone 2 is a gorgeous piece of gaming art, with a great story and a compelling and sometimes challenging single player campaign. It has truly raised the bar pretty high in the console FPS genre and will no doubt become a killer app for Sony’s console this year. If you already have the console and you are the kind of person that likes to engulf themselves in intergalactic warfare then you cannot go wrong in picking up a copy of the game to join in with your growing library of (ok one for the road), epic, PlayStation 3 titles.
Four years in the making and while we could have expected a bit more from Guerilla Games, Killzone 2 is THE game your Playstation 3 has been waiting for. While it doesn’t redefine nor re-invent anything in the FPS world, Killzone 2 delivers the excitement but most of all the beauty no gamer has ever seen before. As a PS3 exclusive game, PS3 owners haven’t experienced such a thing since Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and even the first Resistance game. This game sends a serious message to anyone who wants to release another exclusive game especially designed for the Playstation 3 console.
Combat has always been a strength of killzone though, and here it is too. You’ll encounter areas that will need some well placed nades and tactics to get through, if you can take out 1 enemy with 1 nade, you do it. Enemies know if they have time to escape a grenade, and generally they’re pretty cluey on what you’re up to as well. But don’t be afraid to go on a knife rampage, often it’s the best solution to a tough area.
In our opinion, Killzone 2 has managed to avoid becoming a victim of the hype, but we still think it’ll be bashed by the same narrow-minded naysayers all the same. To those people, we say: experience it first (play, not YouTube), express your amazement afterwards.
Killzone 2 is without a doubt one of the most impressive games I have played on the Playstation 3 to date, it seeps action from every angle and makes you question whether you are actually in the middle of a war zone thanks to it’s stunning effects and sound. If you want eye popping, pant wetting action then this is most certainly the game for you. The Helghast are waiting, are you up to the challenge?
It's been amusing to compare the run-up for Killzone 2 as opposed to the original. While the first game was lauded as a "Halo killer" in some circles, only to crash and burn on arrival, the sequel has been met with measured skepticism, all afraid of heaping praise upon it lest we be burned again. It's clear that Sony and Guerrilla Games wanted to strike back at the naysayers, and they've done it in the best possible way by delivering a game that exceeds all expectations. Granted, there's almost nothing completely original about the title, but who needs new ideas when you can do such a great job improving on the old ones? The bottom line is that Killzone 2 can compete with any other shooter out there on the market, and PS3 owners should definitely be adding this game to their libraries when it hits shelves later this month.
Excited? You certainly should be. For fans of the first person shooter genre, Killzone 2 is unequivocally the best thing to have happened to the PlayStation 3 thus far.
Game Over Online
With all that being said, Killzone 2 has a lot to going for it. Replay value is enormous with the in-game collections, trophy support, and online stat tracking. I’m not going to say if Killzone 2 is a “Halo Killer,” it’s more of a unique game that doesn’t need to compare itself to that. It has it’s elements that it shares from Call of Duty, Star Wars Battlefront, Resistance, Halo, and so on. I wouldn’t be surprised to see those titles adopt some of Killzone 2’s mechanics for their next installments. I’m just happy Killzone 2 delivered something astounding. In terms of production and scale, this is the new benchmark in first-person shooters to live up to. I just hope for the next chapter in the Killzone series, I won’t have to wait as long for that release.
I look at Killzone 2 as two games hiding under the guise of one. The first offers a decent if intense single player campaign mode utilizing some amazing tech and engine power we can only hope Sony finds a way to propagate to other titles. I say this having put in all my Killzone 2 hours on a 112" 1080p front projection system. While that alone may not be worth your $60, the multiplayer game is where Guerilla Games put forth their strongest creative muscle which alone is worth the price plus a couple twenties on top. Either way, you'll get to eat the chicken and the egg for one price which makes Killzone 2 the most obvious no-brainer purchase on PS3 yet.
This is quite a ride on several fronts – visually, aurally and in intensity. You will be challenged, but more importantly, you should have a lot of fun. Killzone 2 was one of those games that have been highly anticipated and the product that is heading for release lives up to expectations.
There’s much to celebrate in Killzone 2. A solid campaign, an ever-mutating multiplayer and a graphical leap for mankind. It is important however, to understand that underneath the veneer what we have is also very recognizable: this is still a game that includes token ‘red barrels’. For all its guts and glory, for all its taxing, gritty fortitude, Killzone 2 adheres too strictly to the rules of its genre to send itself into the stratosphere. What will stand the test of time is its pitch perfect grasp of said genre, its wonderfully taxing, take-no-prisoners assault on your senses and your trigger finger. It is the ultimate conservative First-Person-Shooter, whether it wants to be or not. And this is why it’s worth your bucks.
Killzone 2 is only a short month away from hitting shelves, but the game will definitely be worth the wait. The single-player experience is a truly enjoyable campaign across the Helghast home world that will test your skills, particularly on the higher difficulty levels, and the game simply looks phenomenal for a console shooter. But perhaps the strongest segment of the game is the extremely deep multiplayer, which gives seven basic classes with which you can create your own customized super-soldier after performing your class-specific duties. Not only did Guerrilla achieve a milestone of delivering a great exclusive title for Sony's PS3, it delivered one of the better shooters to come along in a long time. Get your hands on this game.
While Killzone 2 fails to deliver on all its promises, it remains worthy of the flagship status that Sony has bestowed upon it. The intensity of the action is unparalleled, and the visuals are amongst the best to date on a console. And when the single-player campaign is completed, the multiplayer component will offer limitless hours of gameplay for online enthusiasts. Unfortunately, the awkward controls are hard to ignore, and the voice-acting places an unsightly blemish on the otherwise polished presentation. Regardless, Killzone 2 is a triumph for the Playstation 3, and a game that will be enjoyed for years to come.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the original, but I'm completely sold on Killzone 2. It's not a revolutionary title, it's just extremely well-made in virtually every aspect. From the beautiful visuals to the engaging multiplayer, it features just about everything you'd want out of an FPS.
Killzone 2 isn’t the best shooter ever made, but it has done an admirable job at giving Sony the killer title they increase the Playstation 3’s value. Even before release, there were comparisons being drawn to Halo and other popular shooters, with fans hoping that this would be the mainstream shooter to give the system its mascot. Only time will tell if that is the truth, but even without that, it has fulfilled its duty at proving the console’s worth.
For a developer whose previous games have been little more than average, Killzone 2 is a landmark achievement. Guerrilla has pushed the boundaries of what we’ve seen on PlayStation 3 by creating an all-action shooter that’s far closer to the original E3 teaser trailer than we could ever have imagined. It’s not perfect, sure, but it’s arguably the best FPS on PlayStation 3 and one that is, in this reviewer’s opinion at least, superior to Resistance 2. It also hints at what the developer is capable of achieving next time round and, bearing in mind what Epic achieved with Gears 2 over the original, we cannot wait to see what Guerrilla does with the next game in the series. For now, if you own a PS3, Killzone 2 is a must-have. And if you don’t own Sony’s machine, maybe it’s time to bite the bullet to make sure you don’t miss out on what is truly an outstanding game.
Get your copy of Killzone 2 now and enlist in the eternal battle that awaits every new recruit. This is easily the most immersive FPS game you can play now, or anytime in the near future.
That Gaming Site
In the end, Killzone 2 is not redefining the 1st person shooter and Guerilla has not reinvented the wheel. The game is still based on a standard formula, one seen before in almost every 1st person shooter. Regardless of these facts, Killzone 2 will stand out for one simple reason; Killzone takes the things we love most from other shooters and does them noticeably better. In the end, that is all it takes. Sony shooters, you have a new reason to smile; Killzone 2 is awesome.
As I mentioned in the preview for Killzone 2 "The original Killzone on PS2 was a technical achievement with some wonderful effects and animation but lacked something in the gameplay". This PS3 sequel nails it in almost every single way with only the single player campaign length being a major drawback, and perhaps the slightly drab visuals. Still, if you love FPS's, online gaming or jaw-dropping visuals then there is no need to avoid this latest Sony title.
Truly, Killzone 2 is the sort of game no PS3 owner should be without, and if you were on the fence for some reason, then hop off on whatever side leads you to a local store to pick this up (if just to prevent the fence from crushing your balls). Even though there are a few minor hiccups (ally A.I. wandering into the path of machine gun nests, and some incredibly difficult sections), everything else about the game is pitch perfect. Hold your heads high, PS3 owners, you now have another shooter you can be proud of; just don’t hold your heads too high... headshots are worth more points.
Shooters are a dime-a-dozen these days, with many different variations to choose from. Killzone 2 manages to stand out from the pack thanks to its superb graphics, its unique setting, and its robust multiplayer offerings. I had a lot of fun with the game, and I encourage those of you that are interested in Killzone 2 to check back with us later this month to get our report on the status of the game's live multiplayer servers.
Gra w Killzone 2 to czysta przyjemność.
Palkinnon tästä saamme me kaikki, sillä Killzone 2 on ehdottomasti pelaamisen arvoinen peli.
We'll always remember Killzone 2 for its superb visuals and adrenaline-fueled battles. It's far from innovative as other games feature superior narratives and better multiplayer modes, but it's still an edge of your seat and bullet riddled extravaganza that begs to be experienced by anyone with a PS3. Of course, if you don't own Sony's console, now's the time.
Killzone 2's been hyped waaaay too much, of course. And, no, it doesn't live up to the hype, because if it did it would be the greatest FPS of all time, which it isn't. But it is the best PS3-exclusive to date. Better even than LittleBigPlanet and Metal Gear Solid 4. Two years into the console's life cycle, the undoubted graphical potential of the machine has been realised - Killzone 2 unleashes the power of the PS3 - nothing on any console comes close. The sheer OMG!-ness of the experience makes Killzone 2 worth buying a PS3 for. And, given how much they cost, that's one hell of a compliment.
Video Games Daily
If it isn't the War To End All Wars some have prophesised, Killzone 2 is definitely the exclusive FPS your PS3 has been waiting for. While the intensity of the spotlight Guerrilla brings to bear on how you go about shooting stuff occasionally leaves its scenarios in the dark, those intimidating good looks, chiselled hide-and-seek engagements and savage online modes are plentiful compensation. After almost five years of infamy, the franchise has taken revenge on its critics.
Killzone 2 is a taut and muscular game, a shooter that gives back more than you put in, provided you have the intestinal fortitude. It may take its time revealing its true depths and pleasures, but the journey is well worth taking. Between Killzone 2's unforgiving grit and Resistance 2's alien-bursting excess, the PS3 finally has both ends of the shooter spectrum covered in grand style.
End line, Killzone 2 is, by IGN's definition, outstanding. It is consistent in every respect and is testament to the talents of the developer as well as the power of the PS3 in the hands of a team that knows how to use the hardware - and who have the full support of Sony behind them. In the same stroke, it is not the be all and end all of console shooters, or even shooters on the PS3 - but if you've read this far and you're one of the Killzone devout, you probably won't care anyway. You can rest easy knowing it was ultimately worth the wait.
Overall however Killzone 2 is an absolute delight, and we can safely recommend this as not only one of the best shooters made for the PlayStation 3, but one of the best made for any platform.
If you own a PS3 and enjoy FPS titles, Killzone 2 is a must-buy. It's not the best game on the PS3, but it is the best FPS, and unless your expectations of it were ridiculously high you're not going to be disappointed.
Here's the bottom line, though: whatever complaining I may do about the game's controls, they can be fixed -- and hopefully quite easily -- with a patch that needs to come (but probably won't). The stuff that can't be fixed; the flow and the pacing and the story and the graphics and the sound and literally every other positive thing I mentioned in this review is pretty much set in stone. And, wouldn't you know it, that stone is rock-solid. No, it's not a new stone, but it's a reliable, expertly realized, perfectly executed stone. A stone that--you know what? Forget the analogies, here's the straight poop: this game is awesome. If you own a PS3, you need to own this game. Period.
PAL Gaming Network (PALGN)
Guerrilla have defied the claims that they could never reach the visual clarity of that infamous 2005 trailer and they defied claims that gameplay would be lacking. They haven't done anything really 'new', nor have they made a game that redefines the way we play FPS games. They've made a game that sets the benchmark for what level of quality FPS games should aim for, and stands strong against this generations biggest FPS games, proudly presenting itself as a vicious shooter that will grip you by the throat, and won't let go. With superb aesthetics, a hugely polished single player component, and a deep, class based 32 player Multiplayer component, there is no reason why you shouldn't go and pick up Killzone 2.
The irony here is that whereas Sony introduced the first, deeply disappointing, Killzone whilst in a position of unparalleled dominance (even five years on the PS2 is still a going sales concern), Killzone 2, this strangely beautiful testament to the industry as it stands today arrives at a moment when the Japanese electronics giant has everything to prove within gaming. Countless lauded exclusives have spectacularly flopped since the PS3’s launch and the console’s market share is still less than glowing; there’s a sense that for history to repeat itself twice with another Killzone debacle, given the expectations, the jaw-dropping preview footage and the hordes of illiterate fanboys chomping at the bit, would have been catastrophic. Instead, the end result is nothing short of triumphant.
In the context of other PS3 first person shooters, Killzone 2 serves as the ideal compatriot to Resistance 2, providing us with a more grown up - and arguably more polished - experience, as well as spoiling us rotten with yet more multiplayer goodness. Once you get past the graphics-induced shellshock and push the underwhelming plot to the back of your mind, there is a worthy first person shooter that simply demands to be played.
You'll have to look to the inevitable Killzone 3 to find out if developer Guerilla can dig any diamonds out of this series' rough narrative. Otherwise, Killzone 2 is an exceptional first-person shooter, not because it does anything particularly new, but because it does everything extraordinarily well. There's certainly no doubting its graphical superiority, but though its moody visuals invite incessant superlatives, it's the tight, electric action that will make this an off- and online haven.
Killzone 2 is an outstanding game and a prime of example of just how powerful the PlayStation 3 really is. Is it the definitive killer game for Sony's machine? In my opinion Metal Gear Solid 4 still has the edge in that area, but if you own a PS3 this should be a must-have game for you. If you don't own a PS3 then this is yet another reason that you should consider buying one.
Entertainment Depot, The
Killzone 2 is far from perfect, and can be downright annoying at times, but it also delivers a great experience. After beating the game – right at 8 hours on the default difficulty – I went back and played some levels on a harder difficulty and found myself still having a blast, especially after having gotten more acclimated to the fussy controls. With each objective being replayable from the menu screen, I was able to enjoy memorable moments. While the third act really brings the single-player campaign to a head, the multiplayer delivers throughout. If you have broadband and even the slightest interest in first-person shooters, then Killzone 2 is a must. The controls are stiff and can break your heart, but stick with it, because the warzone mode is pure magic and will provide the kind of longevity that makes this a PlayStation 3 essential.
Killzone 2 was certainly worth the long wait, the cover-based single player campaign may be a tad short, although it’s certainly memorable and has a smart opposition army to contend with, whilst the multiplayer is up there with the grandness of the likes of Call of Duty and Halo. Overall then, if you’re a shooter fan and have the means to play it, you should do so as quite simply this is one of the best yet.
Video Game Talk
Killzone 2 is an awesome game that will grab hold of you and not let go for quite some time. The gameplay is fast and furious, the atmosphere is rich and deep, and all around the single and multiplayer features are fantastic. So many bells and whistles went into the production of this game that it almost, just almost, lives up to the hype of the original trailer. If you own a PlayStation 3 you owe it to yourself to check this game out no matter if you played the original title or not. It's a great first person shooter and the multiplayer component is more than robust enough to keep you going back for more.
Killzone 2 is going to sate PS3 owners, but it's not a massive leap forward in gameplay or advancing the FPS genre. It does, however, stand as a stunning testament to the raw power of the PS3 and will offer anyone looking for some exclusive Sony love hours and hours of enjoyment. Unfortunately for me, the lack of comfort in the control department and realisation of elements such as full usage of your AI teammates, et al left me wanting more from the game beyond its incredible gloss. There's a stellar action game here, and it'll keep you on your toes for awhile, I'd just like to see more done with franchise in the future.
The end result here is a bit of mixed bag. What Killzone 2 does well, it does very well. It is pure eye candy with a silky smooth frame rate and graphics that truly push the PS3 boundaries, and combat that is overall enjoyable and varied enough to keep you interested. However, those of you concerned with innovative game play and original storylines need not apply. Multiplayer is the deal breaker here. If you’ve ventured onto Playstation Network and are in search of the next big online shooter then Killzone 2 is made for you. It will bring a smile to your face and may take over you life. Go and buy it now. If the single player is all you are interested in, then your mileage may vary. Give it a rent before you buy.
So is Killzone 2 the vaunted killer app that PlayStation fans have been desperately craving? Mostly. It’s certainly a step in the right direction that was started with Resistance: Fall of Man. It’s not the best shooter ever made, but it comes very close to living up to the unfair levels of hype heaped upon it over the years. With a solid campaign, addictive multiplayer, and some of the greatest presentation ever seen in a video game, Killzone 2 is well worth your time and money. Just don’t expect any sort of meaningful revolution of well established shooter conventions.
Killzone 2 is a tale of two cities. There's the campaign, which is a fine but forgettable jaunt through a series of FPS clichés. And then there's the multiplayer, which is a slick, addictive experience that's not to be missed. In the end it just depends on what you're looking for.
Gaming since 198x
We’ve had one session of Multiplayer with the games developers it’ 32 players online, good large maps, and there’s bot skirmish mode offline as well. It’s class based, so you choose from engineers to medics to assault and there’s leaderboards and clan support. You can select matches by rank, and region – by country or worldwide, something ALL online games should have. Next to Cod4, It’s the best ps3 shooter out there, I’m giving it 8/10.
Undoubtedly a visual masterpiece that proves the PS3 does have the power to carry the format forwards, KillZone 2 is a wonderfully solid and entertaining first-person shooter. Although it falls short of offering a genre defining experience, the combination of a rewarding single-player campaign and deep multiplayer means KillZone 2 is certainly a worthwhile purchase - and of course the ludicrously high presentation make it all the more sweeter.
But Killzone 2 is just a videogame and we should judge it as such. And Killzone 2 is a really good game that could have been better. There's plenty to admire about the interaction with the enemy AI and the gorgeous graphics, I just feel that more attention paid to the level design, pacing and especially the story/setting would have reaped dividends.
Killzone 2 is a tremendously solid game. It doesn’t re-invent the wheel, but Hell; round ones work just fine anyway. Guerrilla Games have actually lived up to the massive potential and delivered one of the best FPSs of the last couple of years, which can happily sit next to and perfectly compliment Resistance 2 in any PS3 owner’s collection. It’s not perfect and there are a few things which could do with a bit more care for the next game - largely the lack of co-op and fairly dull story and characters - but nonetheless, this is one of the most beautiful, explosive and entertaining shooters of the console generation so far. Bring on Killzone 3.
The player base is strong, the lag is non-existent, the maps are well designed, the graphics are amazing... I can’t praise Killzone 2 enough. It's just too bad that the single-player is lacking so much, because otherwise this would be surely remembered as one of the FPS giants. Even so, there’s still more than enough online awesomeness here to secure Killzone 2’s place in the shooter hierarchy.
Guerrilla has generally lived up to the crazy amount of hype surrounding the development of the game, and in the end, has offered us a very competent First-Person Shooter, with confident execution on all fronts. It may not have turned out to be the be-all end-all of the genre, but it’s multiple appealing elements certainly position it somewhere near the forefront of the ever-growing collection in terms of quality.
The search for that great PlayStation exclusive first person shooter continues. While Killzone 2 continues to pull over the eyes of many, it won’t receive much time at Gamestyle. This is an average, generic experience. For all its lofty ambitions and hype it is an unbelievable failure, a real disappointment for all PlayStation 3 owners.
