1001 Video Games
appears in the book 1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die
by General Editor Tony Mott.
The release of the game was postponed for a week because of some offensive content. A few days prior to the official release, a post
on the PlayStation forums claimed that a song played on the first level of the third world (Swinging Safari
by Malian musician Toumani Diabaté) contained a lyric taken from the Quran. Sony
immediately recalled all copies of the game and replaced the offending track with an instrumental version, however, there are reports of some copies having been sold before the official release date. For the EU version, these copies can be identified by the Sony product code on the disc. In the modified release of the game the code ends on "#2", whereas the code on original, unmodified discs does not.
