PixelJunk Racer was cool and PixelJunk Monsters sucked away a good few months, but PixelJunk Eden is straight-up digital crack. The ever-increasing difficulty challenges without ever becoming overly frustrating, probably because the sights and sounds are so damn calming and the controls, so charmingly simple and intuitive. If it sounds too abstract, do yourself a favor try the demo on PSN. PixelJunk Eden is a wholly unique gaming experience, one which is difficult to accurately describe. Like the best things in life, it must be sampled to be truly understood.

When I think of downloadable games I don’t think of deep experiences that last 20+ hours, but instead a quick sampling of a fun new premise that will be fully utilized in a later game. Eden is an extremely addicting game that is both beautiful, and fun that brings a great new feature that will become a lot more common in later games. At the bargain price of $9.99 there is no reason you should not pick up this game.

With such rich presentation the simple gameplay is more than engaging, it's addictive. Sure, it looks like a game you have to be high to play, Eden is deceptive like that. It's an audiovisual experience as much as it is a game and a wholly absorbing one at that. It just may be a game you have to play to believe; incredibly captivating with an aesthetic as yet unseen the game is downright smart. I thought the PixelJunk ascent to awesomeness was complete with Monsters, and I am more than happy to be proven wrong.

Great visual style, great audio soundtrack, great gameplay, and great technical add-ins make PixelJunk Eden the best ten dollars that gamers can spend on their PS3 this year.

People laughed when I returned from E3 and told them two of my favorite games revolved around pollinating flowers, but PixelJunk Eden is still one of the most charming titles I’ve ever played. The intrigue of its aesthetic was wholly fulfilled by its focus on pure gameplay. So many games get overwhelmed with needless complexity and pointless features, but Eden’s relatively simplistic approach to game design gave birth to splendid tests of timing and intuition, each combining to form an outstanding challenge. It doesn’t have technical prowess of Grand Theft Auto, the brilliant density of Metal Gear Solid, or the legion of followers behind Halo, but its every bit as fun to PLAY as those big budget titles. Thus far it’s my favorite downloadable game for this console generation. A robust demo is available for free on PSN, definitely give it a shot.

From the addictive gameplay to the beautiful visuals to the absolute abundance of features, PixelJunk Eden is the best game released on the PlayStation Network this year.

This is easily worth the $9.99. Time-wise, I'm not sure how "long" it is, because, as Brad mentioned, the hours will fly by. I don't think I'd want to pay any more for the full game, but I'd probably fork over the cash for some really cheap (say $1.99 or less) expansion levels.

While PixelJunk Eden may have that wacky barrier that seems to confuse people at first glance, a good thirty minute session with the demo should be enough of a tutorial in how the game works, as seeing really is believing with Eden. This game provides such a unique and interesting experience with addictive gameplay and enough content that will keep you busy for at least a good 15 hours, making the $10 price tag not nearly as much of an obstacle as it is for other downloadable games. Eden’s certainly another notch on Sony’s belt as far as great, unique PSN games are concerned, but it’s also proof that platformers haven’t disappeared yet, they’ve just found a better place to foster their evolution.

PixelJunk Eden is a game worth putting down the chain gun for. Its simple, intuitive gameplay, combined with a clever use of strategy and impressive length make it a great buy for PS3 owners looking for a cheap fix. Looks can sometimes be deceiving, and if you give this garden a chance you’ll end up with a green thumb in no time.

PixelJunk Eden is a unique title, one that brings a breath of fresh air to the PlayStation Network. If you give it time, it'll grab you and keep you coming back for just one more Spectra, time and time again. It's not a game for everyone, but people who are looking for something different than just another first-person shooter should definitely download this one.

For some the allergy season may be coming to an end, but for those of us with an itch for platforming (or pollination), we'll be seeing a few more weeks of staying up late with reddened eyes and bad puns. Pixeljunk Eden is a fantastic game for the ten bucks it asks in order to play it. For those interested, there's a sizeable demo up on the PSN, so there's no reason not to give it a run through. The few detriments Eden has are hidden well and can be argued as an attempt to challenge the player, or simply as poor design choices. That doesn't change the fact that as a whole, it's a game that makes you feel thankful for playing, instead of wondering if it

Eden's tough to sum up in a single sentence; you have to play it in order to fully appreciate it. The game is uniquely engaging, and it's not even remotely similar to its predecessors...or any other games, really. The elegant pairing of a psychedelic aesthetic and smart, addictive platforming mechanics is a rare find indeed. If not for the aforementioned structural misgivings, Eden might be even more addicting than Monsters -- quite the feat on its own.

Try the demo, because this is for sure a game that is not for everyone, but if it is you will find it to be a wonderful puzzle experience and something you will play over and over again if you end up enjoying the title.

Bien entendu, son style unique tant graphiquement que musicalement peut ne pas être du goût de tout le monde, mais pour 7,99€, il est impossible de se passer de cet OVNI de la PS3.

PixelJunk Eden is een bijzondere game die onderstreept dat er nog voldoende creatieve ontwikkelaars op deze aardbol rondbanjeren. Niet alleen de kunstzinnige stijl, ook het afwijkende spelprincipe maakt van het spelen van dit eigenzinnige spel een unieke ervaring. Het is zonde dat de opzet enigszins repetitief aan kan voelen, er geen online spelmodi beschikbaar zijn en het camerawerk in de coöperatieve spelmodus voor ongelukkige momenten weet te zorgen. Door het imponerende totaalplaatje en het zachte prijskaartje is er echter nauwelijks reden tot klagen.

But really, that's about all I can fault it for. It's not going to appeal to people who have to have the latest and greatest FPS title to feel like they're gaming, but if you want a fun challenge that will get your co-ordination cranking then it's worth a go. Just be sure to grab the demo from PSN first though.

There isn’t a “plot,” so to speak, so you need to use your imagination to come up with any sense of a story to the game. I like to think that Peter Parker ate a radioactive shrimp after being bitten by the spider and was transported back to the Garden of Eden to build the earth, but you build your own story. Even without a plot, somewhat stunted multiplayer offerings, and a few issues with the game design, Pixeljunk Eden is definitely worth checking out. Its unique gameplay isn’t for everyone, but Q-Games was kind enough to give an extremely in depth demo on the PSN Store. Give that a try, and if it tickles your fancy pick up the full game.

Still, PixelJunk Eden is a beautiful and mesmerizing title that warrants a look. It can't top the cream of the current crop of downloadable PSN games like Super Stardust HD, PixelJunk Monsters, and Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection Online, but it certainly holds its weight if you're looking to kill a few hours on a lazy Sunday.

Then there’s a set of online leaderboards on each level, and overall score, coupled with the equivalent setting for multiple players. Even separate boards for two and three players to ensure everyone is on a level playing field, and it all adds up to a fresh and challenging piece of simplistic entertainment, well worth the (fairly translated) asking price of £4.99. The PixelJunk series has always been about simplistic gameplay principles trying to focus on the raw fun of the games in question, and with so much to offer PS3 owners who seem to be begging to show off the new things their machine can do, I am sure that Eden will attract plenty of players. Fortunately, there’s a great game underneath the gimmickery.

PixelJunk Eden is far from perfect. It's exhausting, it's cruel and the control system could have done with some tweaking - the lack of in-air mobility really seems unfair. But there are also a lot of things it does right: it's truly original; it's got buckets of style; it allows three players to work together at once. Best of all, it's got a built-in video recorder that helps you film your acrobatics and upload them to YouTube. And for pity's sake, it'll only cost you a measly, snivelling £4.99 - that and a whole load of blood, sweat and tears. You owe it to yourself to at least give it a go.

PixelJunk Eden must surely be at least a small approximation of what an abusive relationship is like. You'll be beaten and angered so many times you'll lose count, but you'll keep coming back, again and again and again and again and...

To truly enjoy Pixeljunk Eden, you have to be willing to put up with the countless hours of frustration it will cause. If you can survive the frustrating moments, you'll find a game unlike any other which can offer a tremendous experience completely its own. If you can't, you'll probably make it to the second or third garden before you get so pissed off you stop playing the game for a month. Just do yourself a favor, and before you load up your PS3 to play it make sure you didn't leave any sharp objects within reach.

If you're looking for something a little different, or for something to play with a friend who doesn't normally play games, then Pixel Junk Eden is a recommendable download. However, if you prefer to get more mileage out of your games, its short hold on your attention span is probably not enough to justify the cost of the game.

Tout cela sans oublier la barre de vie du grimp qui diminue progressivement et qu'il faut recharger régulièrement. Chaque niveau, qui contient cinq Spectra, doit donc être visité cinq fois, ce qui promet à Eden une bonne durée de vie, d'autant plus que l'on peut y jouer jusqu'à trois, même si l'effet "warp" lorsqu'un grimp passe hors-champ aurait pu être mieux géré afin d'éviter les chutes forçant à recommencer l'ascension. Au final, Eden est un titre prenant et unique, même si l'on peut lui reprocher de laisser une certaine répétitivité s'installer.

And, for all its pretensions, there is something quite beautiful about PixelJunk Eden. It's just about worth all the confusion, frustration, pretentiousness and frequent tedium. It's worth GBP 4.99. But probably not being late to meet your Mum.

Despite its faults, PixelJunk Eden is a game worth playing. The striking visuals, distinct score, and surreal maneuverability make this an engaging ride. It's a shame the serenity was shattered by an all too demanding clock, but when you’re not overwhelmed, it remains one of the most unique platforming experiences in recent memory.

PixelJunk Eden is one of the best downloadable games on the PlayStation 3. The gameplay and controls are easy to get a hold of, and once you master the different gameplay techniques you’ll be gliding through the gardens with ease. Sadly, it does have some flaws, such as the timer becoming an irritation as you just want to relax and explore; and the levels become repetitive and redundant as you have to enter them over and over again to collect all of the Spectre. But despite all of this, PixelJunk Eden really is a game you have to experience. Sony have done a great job getting a hold of great talent like Q-Games, building up a library of original and inventive games; and PixelJunk Eden is most definitely one of them.

All these features and ultimately the exciting, addictive, and utterly entertaining gameplay make this game deserving of a high score. I truly enjoyed it, and I'm sure many of you out there won't be able to give up your SIXAXIS or DualShock 3 controllers once you start playing. For the small $10 price tag, you ought to give it a try!
