Singularity isn't a groundbreaking shooter, but it's an incredibly fun one. This is an example of how fluid pacing and a tongue-in-cheek attitude can make old conventions exciting again. Disappointing visuals and a smattering of minor flaws keep this first-person shooter from feeling completely modern, but not every game must probe the human soul to achieve greatness. Singularity achieves it with variety, moving you from one enjoyable sequence to the next without lingering too long on any given moment. Besides, this is a game in which you can both snipe hardened Soviet soldiers in bullet time and heal your teammates by puking on them. And is there any greater selling point?
I believe Singularity deserves a bit more attention than it has received up to now. Although the graphics aren't fantastic and the gameplay could be a bit more extensive, there's quite some fun to be had with it. It isn't a title that will become a classic but to fill the hole after the World Cup and the Tour de France it certainly isn't a bad choice.

Singularity does come with some online multiplayer as well, but it is pretty bare bones. The two game modes they offer are creatures vs solders (standard death match) and Extermination (attack and defend). Each mode pegs one side as the creatures and the other as the humans. Again, pretty boilerplate stuff here. The human sides can choose between four different classes each having a unique TMD skill, you also get to choose your weapon and a perk. The creatures side can choose one of four creatures as well. Each creature has its own unique set of abilities. You also get to choose two perks. Although the online is a ton of fun especially playing as the creatures it is a real shame they couldn’t of added more. You should be able to get a few hours of fun, but this looks to fade out pretty quickly. Although it does have its down sides, overall Singularity delivered a fun experience in a unique world.
Surprises don't come along too often in the video game industry, but Singularity definitely isn't the flop everyone expected it to be. With a bit more ingenuity in the puzzles, more made of the time travel and a little more graphical "oomph", Raven and Activision could have had a real gem on their hands. It's still well worth a look though, especially when it inevitably gets cut in price a few weeks down the line.
Singularity has some good ideas, but it fails to push the potential of these mechanics in gameplay. Enemies are practically defenseless in the face of your super-powers, and the puzzles never advance beyond the basics. There are definitely better options, but it's not too bad if you're just looking to kill some time.

Look: it's derivative and silly – but then you hit upon those rare moments that point towards Singularity's original ambitions. It really makes us wonder who's to blame for scuttling this game; there was a lot of meat here, and most of it never played out as it should've. Yeah, it's still a fun shooter with some entertaining scripted action, big boss encounters and the TMD gimmick doesn't hurt – but is a game that's merely 'reasonable' actually a sound investment in the face of so many titles that did it first – and better? Break out your TMD, Raven, and do it again.
Game Shark
In the end Singularity is a decidedly average shooter with a pretty novel storyline. It’s peppered with interesting characters and plot twists that culminates into a really slick ending and if you don’t mind playing what is tantamount to Shooter 101 gameplay you’ll likely enjoy the ride.
At all points the fundamentals of combat offer a bloody satisfaction – the sound of a chamber emptying, the arterial spray from a severed arm – these are things that Raven knows well. And, as you progress, there are more and more moments when the game allows you opportunity to use your powers as you please. But there are an equal number of genuine horrors – a disastrously boring stealth section in the sewers, the never-good introduction of swarms of exploding mutant ticks and a boss battle which so offensively crops the player's agency that the glowing weak-spots are the best thing about it. For all Raven's efforts with temporal gimmicks, this is a game which is stuck in the FPS past – but, perversely, in its gun-metal and gore, in its most archaic respects, Raven proves it can just about stand the test of time.
