PSX Extreme
While the game may not have a lot of extra content, it is fairly lengthy for a puzzler and, in the future, there will be a total of over 100 downloadable extra levels (only 10 are available at the time of this writing, but Japanese players have at least 120). As you complete stages, you can also see profiles of those you've rescued. Make sure to "play" through one of the best credit sequences ever! Some people may get frustrated by the trial-and-error gameplay as well as the old-school style of control, but these become quite easy to deal with provided you give it a little time. Mr. ESC's charm and pure badassery will win you over in the end!

Exit is one of those games that really have to be experienced. The simple description of controlling this rather strange character that goes around rescuing people from rather dangerous situations doesn't really seem like it's that interesting. However these challenges are actually quite fiendish puzzles (especially the latter half of them) and it's a really addictive experience trying to work out how to rescue these individuals who all have different abilities. Exit is without a doubt one of the best PSP games released to date and for a handheld console that seems to have large quantities of cut down PlayStation 2 games or spin-offs, it's refreshing to see some true originality.

Anyone who owns a PSP knows that it hasn't yet enjoyed the string of hits the Nintendo DS has had since it was released earlier last year. While the DS has a handful of popular and critically praised games available, the PSP has been proving to be a far more popular portable media player than a handheld game machine. But for those who still want to actually play something on their PSP, the recent release of Exit proves great games are indeed possible on Sony's portable powerhouse.

The PSP has been hurting for quality game software since its launch last year. The whys and wherefores have been the subject of endless debate, but much of the problem is that Sony's portable has attracted the attention of developers who had previously disregarded the handheld market. Portable gaming is an entirely different creature than console gaming, and the tricks and techniques that have been honed to make spectacular PS2 games don't always work on PSP. It's just taking a while for longtime console developers to come to grips with the requirements of Sony's new baby.

Ubisoft has been on a roll lately with publishing. Just shy of a year ago, the French giant brought the instant classic Lumines to the West. They've just signed a deal to distribute Capcom's PS2 hits on PC, even after releasing a rip-off of one of Resident Evil 4. And now, the Big U is dropping another Japanese title Stateside with Taito's Exit. And while it's not necessarily a sensory stimulating, universally beloved puzzler in the vein of Lumines, it's definitely got some serious merits and challenges to keep PSP owners on their toes. They might just have to give it some time.

Exit is recommended for everyone. There's no sex, no foul language, nudity or violence - and despite all those shortcomings, it's still a great game. Even if you're not a big fan of puzzle games you'll enjoy the structure of the puzzles that are anything but obtuse or arbitrary.

Without a doubt, the next generation of hardware should be pretty fantastic from a technical standpoint—and by extension, the games should be too. These superpowered machines are more potent than ever, and it's pretty clear that the stakes are being raised for developers who want to compete; the market is being driven towards an endless cycle of must-be-a-blockbuster. However, what about indie developers and people with new ideas, or those working on a shoestring? In the coming days of mega-content and greater emphasis on details, online modes and maxing out all the bells and whistles, is there any room in the marketplace left for small studios and niche titles? There just might be on portables.

Worth Playing
Exit isn't entirely immune to style-over-substance accusations, and while it certainly doesn't suffer any shortage of prettiness, plenty of satisfying puzzle-solving still manages to stand out among all the polished sights and sounds. The companion-control mechanic and the variety of scenarios do a good job of sustaining your interest even though the gameplay basics remain perhaps too consistent throughout. Add the downloadable content, and PSP-owning puzzler fans have plenty of reasons to give Exit a shot.

True, Exit's quirky action and personality might not be to everyone's taste. But those that do appreciate it will, to borrow another Jackson phrase, recognise "some serious gourmet shit" here – and recognise an essential addition to a discerning PSP games collection.

All in all, Exit is not a bad game. It’s fun and addicting. The controls are simple, the graphics are sharp, and there is plenty here to keep you coming back for months. It just has those pesky AI problems and too many trial and error levels, but for all of those in search of an original PSP game, look no further Exit has arrived.

Neither issue is even close to being a dealbreaker for puzzle gaming fans, however. They mere turn what would have been a must-own puzzle game into a very fun one. I would venture to say that Exit is not for most PSP owners. That being said, if you like the genre the game is a no-brainer. If you're merely puzzle-curious, Exit would be an excellent game to test out your taste for it.

While the ideas behind it may not be anything new, Exit is the sort of game that exudes a charm and style all of its own, helped considerably by its graphical front and jazzy musical accompaniment. It’s this feeling combined with the puzzles that help make it the sort of coffee morning game that is easy to pick up and play in both short bursts or longer stints.

Pero a pesar de estas lacras, sus originales visuales y la mezcla tan equilibrada y auténtica junto al carisma de su protagonista, harán que lo juegues hasta que tu capuccino -bebida ritual de Mr Esc- esté frío como el hielo.

Back to the positive points once more, and you’ll find that Exit’s cartoony and highly stylised look is pleasing on the eye. It doesn’t try to do too much in the visuals department, but what it does do, it does very well. The animations for example are incredibly smooth ‘ again, a call back to Prince of Persia’s groundbreaking rotoscoping techniques. In addition to this, if you complete the initial set of stages that the game has to offer, a further hundred are available to download for free, directly to your PSP. You can’t say fairer than that, really, can you’

The farmer takes the chicken in the boat with him and crosses the river. He returns to the original side on his own and and then takes the dog across with him. He then takes back the chicken and returns to the original side again. Then he takes the bag of grain over and leaves it with the dog. Finally, he returns for the chicken and carries it across.

A hyper-stylized 2D puzzler/platform-hopper, Exit stars Mr. ESC, a two-tone, fedora-wearing escape-artist-for-hire. Using only his wits and acrobatic abilities, Mr. ESC charges into disaster areas to rescue trapped victims, slogging through rubble, fire and water. Getting his charges to safety takes jumping, climbing and the creative use of ropes, fire extinguishers and whatever else the designers saw fit to leave lying around.

It's nice to find an original game that's designed so intuitively. Exit subtly reminds you of so many games you might wistfully recall playing into the wee hours; it's as comfortable as slipping on your battered old jeans. Taito's puzzle/platformer centres on the character of Mr. ESC: in fact 'character' is certainly the only word to use. The aptly named Mr. ESC is a professional escapologist and a mercenary rescue worker (someday that'll be my job description). There's no more development needed, really.

Substance and style shake hands in Exit, an engaging new puzzler for the PSP where a striking visual dialect and outside-the-box-of-blocks puzzle design collude to create a spirited and oft-challenging experience. Name-checking puzzle classics like Lemmings and the original Prince of Persia make for convenient, fairly accurate shorthand when describing Exit, but they don't give the game due credit for the way it forges something fresh out of familiar elements.

In the end Exit is a puzzle game wrapped in a platformed package decorated with comic book paper. With puzzles that are perfect in terms of difficulty and a presentation teeming with flair, it's sad to think that most gamers won't even give this game the once over. In this day and age of realism and too-cool-for-school first person shooters, it's nice to see a caffeine addicted man of the people get his time in the spotlight. Rock on Mr. ESC and thanks for rescuing me from boredom.

With its own distinct approach to puzzle gameplay, and a unique visual style, Exit really stands apart from the crowd. This uniqueness may be somewhat amplified by the PSP’s largely unimaginative library (with only a handful of exceptions), but anyone who’s tired of the standard puzzle games and is looking for something a little different, Exit is highly recommended. Only minor issues hold it back from being alongside the best games of 2006, but PSP puzzle fans can't go wrong with Exit.

Exit takes an original approach to the puzzle game genre and for the most part, accomplishes what it set out to do. The action-oriented gameplay should help it appeal to a broader audience, but the later levels will still provide plenty of challenge for seasoned gamers. While the gameplay will likely be hit or miss depending on your genre preferences, it’s difficult to deny that Exit's interesting graphical style and presentation that make it one of the more memorable games to be released for the PSP.

Game Informer Magazine
Despite the control issues, Exit has a lot to offer. While extended play can get a little frustrating, picking up this game for a few minutes at a time can be a deeply satisfying experience. The animation is simply stellar, the graphics are bright and eye-catching, and the music is fun. Exit isn't a perfect experience, but if you can get the feel of the controls, it does offer some smart puzzles and a unique presentation.

Games TM
By playing just one or two games at a time, Exit feels well paced and provides pleasant brain exercise without becoming frustrating. As a portable title, it certainly does everything required of it, and a visually exciting style adds considerably to its overall appeal.

IGN
It's not too often these days that you find a puzzle-focused game that doesn't feature blocks, triangles or some sort of gem. When they do come around they can be great, as in the case of something like ICO or even The Sands of Time. Exit stands to make a case amongst these classics, combining puzzle solving with side-scrolling platforming. But while the game can provide a fun puzzle-solving experience in both theory and practice, it has enough quirks to keep from ranking it amongst the greats.

Kombo.com
Exit is a good puzzle game, but is flawed by some control problems and some poor animations. The graphics and puzzle solving on the other hand, compensate for its downfalls. Its definitely worth a look if you like puzzle games on the go.

videogamer.com
Exit certainly provides something a little unique for PSP owners, making the most of what the system is good at, but it's thrown in a load of problems of its own. For every devilish puzzle that you crack, there's a moment of annoyance due to the clunky controls or slow character movement. The sense of accomplishment gained by completing the game is just enough to make this worth considering, but be warned that it'll go out of its way to make you hate it.
