For my first extended time playing anything on the PSP, this game was very impressive. There were a handful of drawbacks – most notably the lack of some teams and absence of a team or player creation mode – but overall this is great fun. I have a stack of other games but this is the one that keeps ending up in my PSP.
FIFA 07 is a fun, fast-paced game of soccer and EA's finest effort to date. While the effort to imitate the best elements of Winning Eleven is obvious, EA does its own fair share of innovation with some great long-pall passing, jostling and PS2 connectivity. With solid visuals and sound and a dearth of gamemodes, FIFA 07 is one of the best sports games of the year and an excellent game of soccer on the go. Still, the gameplay must be tightened up before it can overtake the competition.
Game Freaks 365
I feel like I have written FIFA reviews a hundred million times in the past year. This is actually my fourth since the PSP came out in March 2005. Steadily the franchise has improved each iteration that comes out...which seems to be about every six months. That it keeps getting better is a good thing, because I wasn't too thrilled about the first PSP FIFA. It's now up to the level of a console soccer game, with short load times and deep, long-lasting gameplay. I may be tired of writing about soccer, but I'm sure not sick of playing it. As Game Freaks 365's 1,000th game reviewed, I proudly encourage you to pick up a copy of FIFA Soccer 07.
