Game Chronicles
From Russia With Love was a good Bond game on the console and a surprisingly good Bond game on the PSP. It easily mirrors the content and gameplay of the console, and the few graphics glitches are more than made up for with new PSP-exclusive content. If this is well received we might be seeing more classic Bond movies going interactive. Maybe Roger Moore can do the voice for a Moonraker-inspired game.

The only real addition unique to this handheld version is an assortment of time challenges, like "kill 12 rappelling soldiers" or "defeat Red Grant". These tasks (along with the standard multiplayer) provide a little replay value, but From Russia with Love just isn't the kind of experience that leaves you wanting more.

From Russia With Love just doesn't have a lot going for it. The game's controls are fundamentally broken, the cameras are terrible, the game is extremely short, the mini-games are a joke and nobody will be entertained by the multiplayer modes ... this just isn't a very good Bond game. About the only thing Electronic Arts gets right is 007's look, circa 1963. Everything else seems to come a short, one thing the real James Bond never had to worry about. This is nothing more than a lazy port of a mediocre console game.

While there's something to be said for carrying James Bond's latest video game adventure in the palm of your hand, From Russia With Love on the PSP suffers from too many drawbacks to make it worth your while. The breezy gameplay is only made more challenging by technical gaffes and frustrating issues, and the multiplayer component is the opposite of a good time. There are definitely satisfying moments to be had in From Russia With Love, but those moments are much more satisfying when played on any of the other versions that are available.

The average gamer will be able to complete this in a day or two. I wouldn't suggest sticking around for the multi-player modes. Rent this game, just as you would the movie. If you purchase it, it will leave you shaken, not stirred.

From Russia With Love started out as a rather decent PlayStation 2 title, and the experience has translated to the handheld fairly well despite a few technical problems. It's still an enjoyable single-player shooter with the Bond name, and the multiplayer isn't particularly impressive but certainly doesn't hurt to have. A pretty good port is a far cry from a strong original game, but fans looking for a quick fix of shooting action should find that this game meets the standard.

Darkstation
In the end, From Russia With Love is just a good solid action game that manages to pass by on the PSP. For those that were hoping for the same great experience, you are going to be disappointed because a lot of what made From Russia with Love great on the consoles has been taken out of this title. Unless you just love the franchise, you can probably just pass up From Russia With Love.

PSX Extreme
From Russia With Love is a perfect example of how not to port a game from the PS2 to PSP. It does absolutely nothing new and a host of things much worse. Even if the port was dead-on, this isn't the type of game you're going to want to buy again if you beat it on the PlayStation 2. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this half-assed effort (though if you're curious about the game, it's worth a look on the PlayStation 2).
